What are good wristwatch brands besides cartier and rolex?

I am looking to buy a sophisticated wristwatch with a name for like 1K any suggestions.
CArtier and Rolex is not in my budged and movado is unrelibale and non functional rip off... suggestions?

Brietling are pretty nice looking watches, i have a drawer full of them around here somewhere as i used to buy a new one every year then stopped wearing them for some reason [shrug]

Besides the fact that everybody got one, I know that movados have a tendency to break often...and you can not really time shit with them.....so to me they are a waste of money but to a chick its probably the best watch in the world..
