Most memorable movie scene of all time?

Of all your favorite movies - what's the single most memorable scene that you can think of? Be it a poignant moment, or funny, dramatic, emotional, surprising, outstanding acting...or just made you feel good (porn excluded, eh).

1) The scene from Jaws where Quint (Robert Shaw) is telling the story of how his ship went down in the war and one by one the sharks ate the survivors. I was a kid when I saw this movie and even though the scene wasn't "visual" it was the scariest thing I've ever heard or seen... I love scuba diving, but I still get the chills whenever I dive!

2) Joe Pesci in Goodfellas "How am I so fucking funny???"

3) The last 20 minutes of The Terminator - the most indestructible "bad guy" in film history.

4) "Captain, my captain" from Dead Poets Society. Cheesy and contrived, but incredibly powerful

5) Michael Corleone standing outside the hospital protecting his father and noticing his hand isn't shaking - later in my life, remembering the point of this scene helped me out in a very tough situation.

When the Bandit told Sheriff Buford T. Justice that he couldn't lie to him, and to turn around. Then the Bandit, Frog, the Snowman, and Fred took off to Boston to get some clam chowder for Big and Little Enos Burdette.

My most Memorable scene ever though is Close Encounters Of The Third Kind. Where they are in the desert baffeld at the at thousands of people all singing together and a Translator asked where they heard this music coem from. and Immediately everyone points their finger in the air.

End of Casablanca.

So many in the first 2 Godfather movies.

The first 20 minutes of Saving Private Ryan.

Of course Vader telling Luke he is his father and Vader being created in Ep.III is historic at least.

Personally love Danny Aeillo's "I'm not a loser" scene in 29th Street.

For me it would have to be the scene from Good Will Hunting where Robin Williams and Matt Damon are sittin' on a park bench beside a duck pond and Williams makes an amazingly poignant speech about why Damon's character knows very little about the 'real life'.

the scene in Shawshank Redemption (there are many others in this movie that are great) where Andy (Tim Robbins) plays The Marriage of Figaro across the loudspeakers - very poignant moment

Liar Liar. The morning after his son makes the "cannot lie for a day" wish, Fletcher (Jim Carrey) wakes up in bed after a fling with his female boss.

Boss: Mmm, that was incredible! Was it good for you?
Fletcher: (turning head and smiling sincerely) "I've had better!"

The next 5 minutes are probably the funniest I've ever seen in a movie. When I saw it at the cinema the entire audience was roaring.

The wife and I watched that just a week or two ago - and yeah, that was definitely a memorable story Quint tells. If memory serves, it was based on the reallife sinking of the Indianapolis.

I'd say they are both with Joe Pesci the "How am I so fucking funny?" bit from Goodfellas and when him and his brother were beaten to death in Casino.

The porkey's shower peephole is a classic too.

Most scenes in goodfellas are amazing. Anyone ever notice how good the camera work is in that movie? The scene where Ray Liotta and Lorraine Bracco are being followed from the car into the back entrance of the restaurant, through the kitchen, all the way to the front of the stage. The table is being put in place for them all the way to the point of the comedian coming on stage without one single cut. Every extra and actor in that scene just plays their part perfect. I know I am weird I pay attention to these things.. lol

The scene that stands out for me in that (awesome) movie is at the very end when morgan freeman is walking up to andy on the beach in Zihuatanejo.

Schindler?s List ? The past 10 minute of the movie when Oscar Schindler realized he could have saved more Jews if he only sold his ring, car, gold Nazi lapel pin. It really placed a value on human life in. In that moment ? it made you realize all killed were people not objects.

In addition, when the Jews gave Oscar a ring made from their gold fillings, stating, ?For he who saves one ? saves the world entire.?

Apocalypse Now...when 'Flight of the Valkyries' is blasting out of the helicopter loudspeakers.

Casablanca...when Humphrey Bogart starts his speech 'Of all the gin joints in the world...'

The shower scen from 'Psycho'.

Rocky... the training scene culminating in him running up the steps in Philadelphia

Dirty Harry when he nails the guy he's after...'You've got to ask yourself a question...am I feeling lucky today? Well punk, are ya?' Absolute classic!

Resevoir Dogs-when Mr. Black dances around the cop and cuts his ear off.

Pulp Fiction-Bring out the GIMP!

Apocolypse Now-The end scene...the "sacraficial" killing.
