    What's with the arrogant assholes?

    I opened my tGP last week, and for the last few days, i've been chatting with a bunch of guys here. Getting my submit page listed on various resource sites.. getting some small trades going. You know, little things to slowly build the traffic.

    Over the last few weeks, i've had some great help from people that i consider to be fairly big in the industry including and not limited to: RocHard, Boneprone, FatPad, Dynamite, ProgGod, BossHawg, Eric from adult.com, Dynamite, 12 clicks, just to name a few.

    All have been extremly helpful.

    I've had some guys who were either too busy to help, or just not really wanting to help. Fair enough. I don't mind, couldn't hurt to ask though.

                          A simple no would have sufficed, like many of the people that have quite simply told me no. I respect that they don't wanna be trading traffic with a site that won't be able to send nearly as many hits back for quite some time. I haven't got a problem with that.

                          I do however, have a problem with Sleazy feeling that he somehow has the right to put people down 'cause he's been in the industry longer, and is more successful. I didn't ask any of the shitty n00b questions that he posted.

                          To me, he's nothing more than an asshole.

                                                              nothing wrong with a newbie, but why is it that soooo many are sooooooo fucking stupid. Like this chodadog guy, he kept ICQing me and ICQing me while I was trying to fuckin work and he wouldn't leave me alone. I mean when I started I'd ask a question of an established webmaster and then not BUG someone anymore. And I'd usually do something for that person first like put up a banner on my galleries to their sponser for galleries I made for them, or start linking to them for a week or two first before I'd even talk to them so maybe they'd notice me a bit. These new guys want ME to link to them first. Sad.

                                                              These fucking idiots now put up a site and want to be huge overnight and want you to tell them all your trade secrets. I feel like asking if they want to drive my truck, sleep in my bed and fuck my wife as well.

                                                                                                      4 years ago a freind did this for me and got me started in this biz.
                                                                                                      I always think of that. For if he hadnt taken the time Id be running some nursing home or hospital right now dealing with paper and politics.

                                                                                                      IVe helped out many webmasters just starting out, many of which are bigger than me now, and many who are pretty known now days.

                                                                                                      Sure some of those guys have never spoken to me again, but others come back and still thank me for the help ive given them.

                                                                                                      I may play an asshole on TV, but in reality I aint that bad.

We all asked questions and probably annoyed the big guys that started helping us a bit. However I for one like many others here now return that to our community in helping others the same way I was helped at the beginning.

                                                                                                                      Hell even the big guys have questions now and then. This thing called the internet is great for sharing ideas and developing the future. But bashing newbies is not the right way to this. If someone is bothering you politely tell them your busy. I do it works. I also try to get back with them later when I'm not so busy.




                                                                                                                      In the for what it's worth department a few newbies I helped are now trading good traffic with me. And I appreciate the help they are sending back my way.

In 1997 there was were maybe 5% of as many porn webmasters as there are now. There was no help, people largely figured shit out on their own. Aside from YNOT and Netpond, webmaster resources for porn were scarce to nonexistant and largely sucked.

                                                                                                                              And when I say the term newb, I am talking to more the individual that just goes out and copies everyone else, spends his day on message boards asking stupid fucking questions that have been aksed 1000 other times in the same month.

                                                                                                                              I am not talking to the newbie lurker, the guy who spends 20 hours a day surfing and figuring shit out on his own. Not obsessed with the Hun, or gallery design, or best counter, and on and on and on.

                                                                                                                              Im talking to the people who think shit should be handed to them.                                                                                                                                               One of the things I don't like about running a TGP is all the communiaction you have to do with making trades and such. Just doesn't seem to be worth it. I am not into trying to negotiate with people. Just isn't my style. That's why I love selling porn - I get all these checks - and never have talked to any customers. Hell my sponsors hardly ever talk to me.

                                                                                                                                              I don't mind helping people, but I have given out too much free information before - and very rarely does the person give anything back. I'l say - well you migght want to try this - this and this, oh by the way - how is xyz working out for you. At least half the time - I don't get a response.

                                                                                                                                              Some people will never do well. They just don't get it. I wouldn't worry about it. Just go on doing what you are doing. You can't really expect a board that is called go fuckyourself to be chock full of goodnatured, kind, non abrasive people.

                                                                                                                                              I think some of it is just attitude - as I have had conversations by email that were much more civil than what I have heard the same people on here say.

Someone helped me when I was getting up there, now its my turn to give you the trick I learned along the way. I've moved on to paysite tour tricks but I figured I'd pass along a key TGP "secret" I learned on my own. I paid off my condo in 2000 using this simple trick: when building TGP galleries make sure you link to an FPA you created. Tweak this FPA until you get over 25% click through to your sponsor's join page. How do you tweak it? Easy, which part of the FPA do they click from? Where do they come from? A little trial and error and statistical analysis will make you $$$ It also helps to make the FPA look a little bit like the order page of your sponsor.
