You are 100% correct. But let me ask you this: if Paris Hilton looked like a freshly-runover troll, would anyone know who she is? NO. The reason for her celebrity status is 2 things:

1. She is YOUNG, Ultra-rich, and (relatively) attractive.
2. She has a GREAT staff (publicist, PR, etc) doing her "marketing" (selling her) for her. With the exception of cutting them checks, she DOES NOT do shit.

Good for her, I have no problem with that. The problem I have is when people try to convince me that she should be my idol because she is "such a success". She is not a success, she is a celebrity; there is a difference. And any time you question what she has actually accomplished herself, everyone says you're jealous and you're a hater.
