This differs by market. Check out some of the stats on salary.com, among others. Someone with the same skill-set in South Carolina might make half as much as his counterpart in New York.
Average salary without a qualifier such as state -- better yet, city -- is meaningless.

Dunno about server admins, but for programmers straight out of college, 35-40k/year, 50-60k for rather advanced guy and then it just goes up depending on experience. Around 70k/year should get you a pretty good senior programmer that can do frameworks and coordinate outsourced workers.
Edit: that's in my area, converted into USD.. it varies depending where you are |

about 2 years ago when i was at a computer school, programmers were getting picked up for about 36k-45k a year, and that was considered great

University graduate from an Ivy league, computer programmer, I would say about $80 - $90 thousand annually.

for a pro DBA working with a real database around $150k/year. |
