Growing up playing baseball my entire life and living in Minnesota, he was one of my roll models. Kirby Puckett and Kent Hrbek were my absolute baseball idols! I was very saddened to hear of his passing.

i was shocked last night when i heard Kirby had a major stroke and was in critical condition. Seems like he just retired.

i did hear a guy from ESPN say that Kirby who was even pretty chunky weight wise when he was a player had put on a ton of weight - that he was unrecognizeable, over 300 pounds - so diabetes and obesity ........... tragic

all of the websites use to say he was 44, now they have been updated to say he's 45.

He is 44, march 14th is his birthday

I am from Minnesota and I had like 300 of his baseball cards, every poster, and he was the only reason I listened to baseball growing up.

Life sucks!

Well now all the news channels and sites are saying is was born in 1960
even the local news here was saying 1961-2006 the whole night, then just last minute said 1960.

All of my baseball cards growing up said 1961

so the 1960 was a last minute thing by everyone in the last few hours
everyone has said 1961 my whole life

weird

For those that don't live in Minnesota, you don't realize how popular he was
back in 84-94 about, he was the most popular person in the entire state, the most liked person in the entire state, everyone loved him.

This is a sad day
