Well, factor in about $350 to $400 a month for parking a truck. There's little to no street parking especially midtown. Also, you can expect to eat up another $200 to $400 a month in parking around the city just going out on the town.

Gas is much more expensive in the city than every where else except LA. It's about a 30% markup on average.
And you can already guess what insurance will cost. Just keep your car registered in Dallas for as long as possible.

Yeah, that's about what I figured. I don't mind paying to keep it safe; I just know if I spend $65k on a brand-new truck, I won't feel comfortable leaving it parked on the street (even in a good part of town, accidents do happen). As far as the registration and insurance, I will still be keeping a residence here in Austin to try to maintain my Texas residency, so keeping the truck registered here for as long as possible may be a pretty good idea. :winkwink:
