    Why does soda taste different depending where you are?

    I think I've got it narrowed down to the water it was made with, thats really the only thing I can think of. If you have a Coke in San Diego, Chicago, Miami, Cancun, and Costa Rica every one will taste a little different. Changes in the formula or creation process really don't make any sense... so my guess is different ingredient sources, meaning water. I don't know if the syrup would be any different because each distribution center may have to purchase the concentrated syrup from the main distribution center.

    Any ideas? Anyone work for a soda or even beer company?

          it sure is the water man, 100%

          the best coke I have ever had was in mexico, the glass bottles...no idea why, but I drank those things like they were water

              Sometimes the sweetner is different.
              In some countries the use of high fructose corn syrup is illegal, so multi-national companies substitute glucose or other sugars. That's probably the difference you are tasting...high fructose corn syrup is like 100x as sweet as glucose.

                          glass is the only way to go...beer companies never got rid of them for that reason....still never fully figured out why cola companies dropped them for the most part except for the promotional shizzy or the 3rd world country scores, prolly just not cost effective

                              sometimes sweeter than other times, sometimes more carbonated than other times.

                              i think it's just the syrup / carbo ratio that determines this.

                                  water is a factor, i notice this with the coffee i make between the countries i travel. I have my own, but depending where i am it tastes differently.

                                      the water guaranteed . american coke sucks compared to canadian coke.. pepsi seems to taste the same no matter where i drink it.. ( but im not a pepsi fan so )

                                          it's definately the water... i've noticed the same thing with bread and pizza if you go out of the area you live in things can get a little wierd

                                                                                  I know that in Denmark Coca Cola adds a tiny twist of (artificial) lemon juice to their recipe and they don't do that in Poland. I like Danish coke best..

                                                                                      Yep, you can buy the mexican coke here at alot of places. It's like $3-4 for a 500ml glass bottle but worth every penny

                                                                                                  yeah.. it all boils down to the ingredients and how they are all mixed. it's like McDo's spaghetti and burgers. the taste varies depending on the location
