My expererience, I have worked in a few top recording studios in the United States, Boiler Room (New Orleans) under Marc Bingham (REM Out Of Time Awards- HOLE - World Known Studio of 2 in new Orleans) Kings Way Studio (New Orleans) Rumbo Recordings (California- Guns N Roses, ZZ Top, etc....) Cats Studio(White Zombie, Faith No More)and Track Record (Slayer, TOOL).... i've way more experience than you might epxect in this field an in others... :winkwink: I also know CD Design studios here, and almost every CD Graphic by Discmakers and other CD Houses all graphics are done on a mac, including a local "Silk Screen Design Friend" does all designs on a Mac and then has them transferred, Im not gonna fight all of you in what I chose to use. Kinkos, all mac. Any friendly graphic environment is mac, by choice, they arent running old 9600's here, studios get new fucking G4 everytime the chip increases, just like a PC dealer. As I have said I own 6 Pc's and 2 Macs, and Ill most likely buy a new Pc and a New Mac within the next 3 months, knowing these programs and what my studio use calls for, if I sat here saying Mac sucks, I wouldnt be able to push a button in a studio. Im talking 48 tracks stretched across 2 monitors, and youre complaining about not being able to run some "Thumb Making Program from download.com" 2 different levels man, way different levels... I work on Pro Tools with my music side, I have always said music is my first priority, this Adult Webmaster "gig" just pays the bills... while you guys are choosing I'm mastering both :winkwink: So I was a lil high last night and posted a few silly benchmark URLs.... hehehe just talking shit, anyone who knows the difference doesnt need to be sold on mac. I see Pro-PC guys, complain more about their OS then growing with it, and do not say Mac and Zeroz didnt event the mouse and GUUI, which IBM compatibles have always tried to mimick. This was never about iMacs, I dont own an iMac. I also run an old Atari ST for hardwired Midi, do you even know what all this is? I have been an avid electronic musician since 94, and both Atari and Mac hold the time for Midi Resolution and its tightness. MPC and Sympte timecode. "A few grand just because its cute. " LoveAsianChicks, youre wrong, iMacs were designed and released for comsumers, they were NEVER a "few grand." Not even with the DVD... another thing people mistake, my mac burns DVD and has done so for over a long time, is Pc finally catching up? This machine wasnt made for you or your girlfriend it was made for me....? These come with DVD burners, do you need to drop 2 gig files to disc? No, but I do. I aint talking iMacs, that was just to take back a bit of the market, which the sales on iMacs will never be topped "by quarterly results"... much like the Performa, I own one of those too ;) That is nothing compared to a real mac set up. Again, no need to argue, just wanted to ramble a few points... enjoy, and again theres nothing sweeter than 22 inch Cinema Display and 180 gigs burning DVD mmmm.... BTW I dont even connect my Macs to the Internet, thats NOT what I bought them for, its like buying a tapedeck to record verses 24 digital tracks, I guess Im just on a different level :winkwink: and in a different frame of mind. :thumbsup |

I just bought a Mac yesterday, my first one.
I am still trying to figure this shit out, these things are confusing as hell. Its a MacG4 with OS X... bizarre, its fucking unix. It took me the better part of yesterday just trying to get this fucker to work with my router. I am off to buy more ram. Fletch, whats is a good mp3 ripper? this iTunes is some slow fucking shit. |
Try, http://www.macamp.com I dont really play Mp3s on my Macs. But I know SoundJam and MusicMatch as well as MacAmp are all okay for the Mac.

Fletch, don't fall for the trick! I have worked in all the major recording studios (as a major label A&R/Producer) so I can say I've seen pro tools set up in every configuration imaginable! I've been more impressed with the setup when put on PC's with SCSI drives for the working hard drives instead of IDE. It's cheaper and more expandable. I have a very famous freind that uses his sony VAIO laptop to record full songs when on the road! You could do that on a Mac laptop but let's be honest, there's more power in PC laptops these days.
I only have one thing to say about Non media Mac usage... No Right Click?!?!:ticking |
Mac sucks balls.. why would you even give it your attention.
