What a whining thief... (you own content? read this)

This is a find on a file sharing board. The thead started with download links to some copyrighted material, hosted on a file sharing server. The links of course come with screen caps, everything else would be againts this board's charter.

The poster offers msg by msg links for material of the same site. The other board members seem to like what they get... asking for more and more.

On page 8 of the thread and after sharing some gigs of content, the poster got frustrated:

Quote

If you find dead links tell me I will upload again.

I removed some links due to theft.

I ask if you like the downloads in ths thread and want to post it to an other board just pm me.

Copy links and reposting as your own is wrong.

I took the time to share with you and ask for nothing in return. Have the respect to just d/l and enjoy.

I thank you for understanding

Maybe you content owners outthere should team up with the content thiefs who share your matierial?

After all, you have the same goal: don't have your work exploited by others.

Ehm, maybe my posting was confusing... see it like that:

He downloaded tons of movies from one particular paysite. Then he uped it to a file sharing server. Then he went to his fav file sharing board and posted the urls to "his" files on the file sharing server.

Imagine, this has cost him quite some time to upload hundredts of megs, clip after clip. Not to forget the time he needed to make screen caps for each clip!

But then! Others copy the link to the file sharing server and posted it on OTHER boards, without giving credits to HIM and the board where the links originated from! Although he has done all the hard work of uploading copyrighted (not to him...;) ) material to a file sharing server, now someone stole his links and he does not get even the credits for that.

In other words. Don't steal from me, when I stole it from some one else. This guy needs to be beat.

Actually, I did't start this thread to entertain or to have my sig exposed for clicks .

Some time ago, I started a thread bout file sharing because I was curious how content producers / owners cope with filesharing such as rapidshare, or if they do not really care because it helps them to get watermarked content distributed in order to get direct signups.

That thread got ignored, and I really started to wonder, if maybe the content owners are just not aware of how the filesharing community is ticking.

Today I discovered this pearl I quoted.

Sure thing the quote is somewhat entertaining... a thief got robbed by a thief.... but actually I had the hope to start a discussion about the effects of filesharing to the industry.

Well it's all good if you use it for that purpose. The problem is, most of these fucks want to crop out you watermark. Then what have you accomplished?

I was mainly referring to vids. No so easy to crop out watermarks there.

Don't get me wrong. What I said was not intended to approve filesharing or to recommend to content owners = paysites as a tactic to circumvent affiliates.

I started this to get a feedback from content owners about their position towards filesharing (don't mix that with P2P, please).

Please... there are boards with file sharing links to GIGS and GIGS of Galitsin vids (just to name an example), all collected in ONE thread. And through filesharing you can get these vids at your DSL speed, probably faster than if you download the same vid from the paysite's member area.
