As for the recent bannings, the guys were playing close to the edge, presumably because whether they got banned or not, they would look cool to their audience. Anyway the bannings are probably just a way to generate some extra posts and the nicks will be back in a few days. Big deal either way...

that was my point at the beginning - in order to make the choices between what is right and wrong vs. making choices that brings in cash. There is a point I will go to before I simply can't think with greed. Most who have boards today are very concerned about how webmasters think of the board - but they simply do not have the hits nor demand the $$ required that GFY does. The board has turned into it's own breathing monster that will not die no matter how terrible things go here. People like Headless etc. who have strong opinions and personalities is what keeps it alive. GFY is a necessary evil

It's simple for Lensman to work this out. He put faith in his employess to do their job the best they can. TD is obviously trying to live up to that expectation.

The only thing I would expect Lensman to do is maybe suggest to TD that it was a little harsh and have him make the final decision as to whether headless and Alien are let back.

agreed - that is why I suggested a one week ban so everyone can save face. TD's authority is not in question as Lensman supports him and with the one week ban it also shows the rest on gfy that TD is taking seriously the rules that were laid out. You can't tell a child that if they hit the car a punishment will follow - then once they do you never enact that punishment. Make good on threats and there will be respect for the board - overkill it and you will have anarchy

Actually, GFY is at a bit of a crossroads right now in many respects: Tons of useless sigwhores, surfers, misleading threads, and of course, issues like GUBA.

It is very close to becoming a surfer oriented board rather than a business board, and that would not be the best thing.
