I test drove an '01(?) GT3 when they first came out and loved it; I came VERY close to buying it. If I were to buy a non-Turbo Porsche, I think the GT3 would be my choice.

The GT3 is actually an old model...from back in the 90's (i think) the old models are sweet. My favourite.

Doesn't come in Turbo (only the TwinTurbo comes in turbo). When I was looking at them the Base Price started at around $100k.

If you plan on tracking the GT3,then that would be the choice. But for everyday enjoyment, the S4 is a far easier car for a nonexpert to drive fast. And you really can't beat a 911 cab for enjoying a leisurely cruise on a warm summer day.

My ex gf's uncle has one.
We took it to a race track in Tasmania Australia.
Unfuckinbelievable. Total race car. This dude raced it in Targa Tasmania.

Go with the S4 and if you go triptonic make sure you geet the SPORT Conometer package The GT3 is a race car and is looser and has the suspension and stuff mroe tuned for track you will be more comfortable in the S4 997 if you are really insaine you can wait for the new turbo to come out at end of year and it has 455-480 horse but top speed is still in the 190 range like anyone ever drives that fast on the road. Believe me the S4 is way enough car for even a intermediate racing person.

I love 911's. Kinda hard to drive in the city though. Imagine opening that thing up on the curves around the belt parkway.

i know you know your cars, how can you compare the two?

wouldnt an RS4 be a better comparison? even that is still apples and oranges.

hmmm another vote for S4, am i missing something? has the RS4 been discontinued?

btw... if you're looking for a really fast car that's still luxury, for around 100k, get the M5. I just got mine a week ago and I fucking LOVE IT!
