India will be allowed to buy more sophisticated fighter aircraft and other high-tech arms from the United States as part of a closer defense relationship between the two nations, the U.S. says. The deal will be viewed with interest by India's regional rival Pakistan, which is seen by the U.S. as a key ally in the war on terror. Pakistan and India, which BOTH possess nuclear weapons, have a frosty relationship -- with tensions regularly rising especially over the disputed Kashmir region.

India provides our fortune 500 companies with plenty of skilled/computer savvy slave labor.

That should pretty much end all questions as to why we help them out.

India's probably going to surpass China's GDP year on year growth very soon. This is a great deal for the US and also a great way to ensure that India's military and civilian nuclear initiatives are separated. It's a good deal for both sides.

Well i see why the world is pissed at us. You tell one country to disarm and work with another country that possess nuclear weapons. Pretty fucked up...
