Actually the strongest supporters Israel has in the US are fundementalist Christians an they are the power right now. Remember Pat Robertson's rant about Sharon giving land to the Arabs?

Nearly 4% of the Florida population is Jewish. This is a HUGE swing state that has more or less decided the last 2 elections.

Almost every state with high Jewish population has a ton of electoral votes. If one side alienated that vote, they may very well lose an election. Lets not forget that there are a lot of prominent Jewish people in the world with money and kind donations.

It actually reminds me of when Illinois made Casimir Pulaski day a state holiday. Banks, schools, etc were all closed. All this so some douchebag politician could get some more Polish vote in the election.
