I'm not sure you can blame the guy who put the tattoo on. He can't help being crap. However, the guy who got it done CAN make a choice and choose a quality artist to do it.

Oddly enough some people are genuinely happy to pay for crap like that. Never have understood why myself.

damn man ALL of those suck ass, in January I got a gift certificate for my b-day for a tattoo (good for a year) I have ZERO tats but I want one, just don't know what I want lol but man that's a bit discouraging ...... well not really the guy that's going to do mine used to be a toon artist for WBros, so he's damn good, but I just can't decide.

People will criticize this yet accept "design" work from Photoshop amateurs all day long because they only charge $200 for a full site.

If a similar site were made of all the shitty adult websites would you guys be criticizing it? Especially considering many of your own would make the list on such a site?

Yeah...those links are crap work...but just like the cheap-ass prices you same people will pay for absolute crap, I am sure the owners of those tats were very pleased at the time they were done since they only paid a fraction of the cost of a decent job.

a friend of mine , who wasn't the brightest spark , he went and got a tattoo done by some backyarder who claimed to have work in a studio , the tatt was meant to be a wizard holding a ball , well $150 later , the wizzard and ball just looked one big blob of paint splashed on , the ink used was pottery paint

anyway my friend was bragging something savage about , he goes to me " you should get one next " yeah right get fucked

gonna play devils advocate on this one, what the hell. I hear what you are saying, I personally found good artists at a good price, but there are differances here. Tattoo art is on your body and is semi perminent, it is supposed to say something about you by first sight, a first impression of sorts. On the other hand, surfers eat up shitty design work at arguably the same rate they do good design work. If more surfers showed more care over design quality more webmasters would probably look at it differantly.

I have my own way of doing things that deal with my own ideals about quality control, I like to have pride in my work even if it is does cost me a little extra to be proud of the aestetics, but almost every proven and established web master that I knew before I got into being a webmaster has said design is not "that" important and their numbers backed it up.

If you are an artist type i know that burns you up, but a businessman is going to look at numbers only and do things based on that. If the higher cost of what you call "good" work does not equate to much higher return then he/she is not going to spend the money, plain and simple.
