Who Still Reads Comics & Would Like To Work In Comics?

The big comic book convention season is in high swing and I've just gotten word from the NY Con and Con in Fla this weekend.

Most folks seem to be in great spirits and I'm so happy that many of the younger guys I met years ago are now running the companies. I'm very proud of them. They worked their asses off to rise from gopher to editor to publisher.

It's a tough business only when you get some idiot who doesn't know how to do his job. Over the past several years more people who actually care about the industry have been promoted and some really awesome work has come out. I'm now more interested in working in mainstream comics again because I know nowadays the work will be looked after.

I know many of you grew up on comics and some have talent at writing or art or even administration. Believe it or not, most of you have the technical skills to publish and do graphics especially in the administration area.

Ever think about working in comics?

The 'New Avengers' series really caught my eye. There's a DVD out too that kicks ass I'm told.

btw, if you really want to treat yourself, find some of the old 'Creepy' 'Eerie', 'Vampirella' black and white magazines from the 60's and 70's. The art and stories are just outstanding.

I liked the 100 Bullets series from a few years back, but didn't keep up with it thru the end. Actually, I'm not sure if it did end or if it's still going.

I was always obsessed with all the spiderman titles as a kid, and any titles that touched on it in crossovers in marvel team up or just in NYC or the Beyonder timeline, etc.

Watched that last night, was pretty good.

I'm more a DC girl though.

Have you checked out Book of Lost Souls, or Fables? Those are both excellent comics.

that sucks - you're missing out on some excellent art and stories

Here's artwork from Alex Ross, he paints each frame and has real people model for the characters, it's good stuff!

That sounds awesome! I know most of the big comics retailers and warehousers and I'm sure they'd love a program like that. Hit me up when you're done and I'll introduce you.

I was never a fan of comics, but there were times I imagine a life getting addicted to it.

I once shared a sit with an old man (probably around 40-50) at Starbucks the past weeks. I saw him reading a marvel comics while waiting for his order. I am not just sure if he's really an old fan of that thing or just a cartoon artist learning from his craft...

We never got the time to talk coz I was in a hurry that day..
