Outlook mostly sucks for accessing Usenet newsgroups. It was never really designed to be efficient as a newsgroup reader.
The best app to use is Xnews - http://xnews.newsguy.com/ - freeware. It'll read the new yENC encoding which many of the binary groups are now using.Comment
