While I'm feeling a bit of aggression here, wtf is with designers who don't have working sites with portfolios and prices. Now I can understand if you want people to contact you for pricing to get a one on one with a conversation. But I'm busy, and I probably an, if I look at your portfolio and I want to see what pricing range you are in damn it let me do it. Because if you don't show your prices, odds are the 4 other sites I'm looking at do. But I digress and think of switching to decaf and smoking less. Ohm mm... Ohm-mm....

I don't post my info because I only do mainstream design due to adult design being so cheap, and I have enough good clients on retainers that I don't have the need or time for any new ones.

And the aggression is just fun, it's not serious, if someone takes it serious they need to take a few steps back and relax, and remember where they are.

Bullshit. If the "designer" is doing graphics AND the html pages then it's his repsonsiblity to ensure it will work on whatever webserver the client might put it on. A PC running XP is NOT what he's designing the page/site to be hosted on.

This thread was actually about HTML, or rather said something that someone perceived to be a mistake connected to not being proficient enough at HTML. The design part was brought in by StuartD and I said I will not get anal about it. Then you come around and show us that you have copy and paste skills (although I am in doubt of your reading comprehension ones), thus further digressing from the subject at hand. Nevertheless, for the sake of accuracy, this thread was initially about image filenames. And here's a freebie: design is a PROCESS, as opposed to the end-result, which is a USER INTERFACE. Keep in mind, even monkeys can copy and paste. Doesn't have to mean they understand any of it. But hey, you sure told me. :winkwink:

Exactly, I would hope that if you were looking for adult business, you would post the info. I'm sure if I went to site point or GT or one of the mainstream boards you happen to post/get business from than I'd see the info.

LOL, I didn't copy and paste shit. I typed it as I read it from the book which I quoted, a book I own, because I have been in the Graphic Design business for over 15 years. You want me to scan it in for you? Cuz it's pretty hard to copy and paste a book.

You should look up the word "design" before you start acting like you know what it means... Design is not a process, however, Graphic Design is.

You obviously know nothing about Graphic Design, so why don't you shut the fuck up it, and go write in a thread about *nix or something you do know about.

a good designer shows attention to detail ... in everything he or she does, not just the design.

I like to also add many don't know how to optimize and design

It's your own fault...ya'll are so fucking cheap anymore...as it has been said 1,000 times before...you get what you pay for. Pay a premium to a premium designer get a premium product and no problems. Pay pennies to a worthless owner of Photoshop and get a worthless mess delivered. One day you guys will learn.

Personally, the only adult shit I design anymore is for myself. However, mainstream design paid me over $100,000 last year and I never worked more than a 40 hour week. I can write .php and work with MySQL...I am abundantly proficient in CSS & CSS2 and all my HTML is clean and compliant across ALL browsers...and I use a minimal amount of tables and very few nested tables so my shit loads FAST. In other words, my employer and clients get what they pay for.

all i need to know is linux/unix capitalization is important in file names, and in windows it does not matter (and I think novell for that matter).

Damnit, I've hired several different design firms and it's very rare, even with the pricey firms, to get a good, solid design. Mostly you get a photoshop design, chopped up and html spit out automatically by photoshop and emailed over. 400kb index.html? No problem they tell you. 500 spacer images? That's just how design goes. Spelling mistakes, grammatical errors? I guess I as the client should fire up my photoshop and fix it, unless I want to pay $80/hour to get it done with those premium designers.

true. but it's really better when designer works with coder together unless he's experienced in html. But topic starter's thing is freaking simple.

Have I mentioned how incredibly happy I am that GTS now has MachineGunKelly?? Now there's a boy who knows his stuff. Learning DHTML and bits and pieces of PHP... much less simple HTML.

He knows how to make every single image look awesome, load fast and keep everything else all pieced together at the same time. No broken images, no messed up HTML pages, tons of spaces or other crap.

It's been awesome working with such quality :thumbsup

That's the key RIGHT there ,
I'm now seated beside a great coder and have all ready learned quite a few things .

I know first hand that MOST designers don't know much code , as I didn't for a long time , recently I've picked up alot off Stuart, as well as honing my skills on my own ( Only been here a week so the futures where it's at ) but just those FEW things have opened thousands of opportunities !

Thanks Stuart ! Been awesome working with a great coder that can take the stuff I previously couldn't make function on my own and turn it into a functioning masterpiece !
