My girlfriend is coming here (to Germany) for 6 months and needs travel insurance. She's American and I figured some of you in the US have probably travelled a bit internationally. Are there any companies/organizations you can recommend for travel insurance purposes?

You need to be careful and look at the policy carefully to make sure it allows 6 month long trips. As a former travel agent I can say fine print on travel insurance should always be read. A lot of policies only allow for 60 day trips without returning home without going for a special premium.

I can only really suggest UK based ones which wouldn't be much help.
