When girls want to bring a "friend" to interviews and shoots

Do you allow girls to bring friends to the interview or the shoot? Why or why not. Thanks!

I've had them say "boyfriend" when what they meant was "pimp". If it freaks them out that you won't let them bring the guy, that'd be a big red flag for me. I don't want to work with anyone so uneasy.

I bring someone with me to all my shoots and always have even at the beginning! I have my best friend John go with me so I know I am safe. To be honest I shoot a lot better knowing the only thing I have to worry about is making sure the pics and video are good Melissa

You always allow an escort if they request one. You're more professional, and it just shows you're not gonna try and bang them on the side.

There's one drawback, and that's if it's their boyfriend...they (usually) are a bit more uptight and not as willing to let themselves go during the shoot. It's not a hard rule, but it's happened to me more than once.

I'm lucky, cause the studio I use in LA has a green room with a pool table and big screen TV, so I just let them sit in there while I shoot.

The only people who don't allow an escort are producers who need to have the model alone one on one to make moves on them.

I have to disagree. I find it extremely difficult to shoot a girl with someone on the set that she brought with her to the set. Some girls end up spending more time looking at and paying attention to their "escorts" then they do to me. It slows down the shoot when I have to constantly be fighting for their attention. I have no problem with an escort bringing the model to the shoot, taking a look around and then leaving. I also don't have a problem with an escort hanging out at the shoot as long as they are not "on the set" or within eye contact with the model while I'm working with her. The last thing on my mind is "making a move on them". The first thing on my mind is getting good content and doing it in an efficient and timely manner. Anything that slows down the shoot for any reason is something that I take very seriously.

I've had shoots where the model and her escort got in an argument. I've had a models escort try to run my shoots and tell me what poses look best and even how I should be setting up my lights? Ahhh - no thanks. Escorts are more trouble then they are worth IMO. Of course I'm not talking about all escorts but from my experience...most of them

you are so right and since they are shooting with my wife I really feel its not necessary. Also they dont get as loose most of the time. Its a shame they are so many scumbags with cameras saying they are photog's that if you dont want someone in the room, your ethics are judged.

If you are planning to allow a "minder", you should pre-plan what you are going to do with them. Sadly, more than one of these people will be spending their time casing your place and planning how to break in and steal your stuff (has happened to people who post here).

Careful what you do.

Bringing a friend or escort to the interview is fine, they get to know you and have a chance to look around and see that everything is on the up and up. But for the actual shoot I'm with Dean.

If the model asks if she can bring her boyfriend or friend or whatever, my standard reply was always "Do you bring him/her to work when you go to your regular job?"

Case closed.

Any money in the protection racket for models? I might have to branch out. Fugitive Recovery just isn't as sexy as being a bodyguard for a hot girl. ;)

If it makes everybody feel more at ease it's okay if they bring their friend/spouse to the location, however I usually don't want them on set per se because it's always a distraction, to both the talent and myself. The tag-along can wait in the room next door, or leave and come back when the shoot is over.

I'm with you... I, myself feel uncomfortable with an escort while I'm filming a model. I mean shit, do they ALWAYS be around when the model fucks. Then most of the time they be pimps and try an call the shots like what the model can or cannot do...

I don't mind if they bring a girly escort though.. But males gives me the hibby-jibbys...

I would suggest not having it come to that. Better to have them bring their friend to the interview like I said earlier, and during that time you put them at ease and instruct them on what is expected.

but hey, if she's one of these models you simply "can't do without shooting" and she wants someone there with her or her boyfriend/husband insists on being there then it's a judgement call.

Personally if I sense any sort of potential conflict or anything I used to simply tell them "I have your test shots and contact info on file now, so when something comes up for you I'll be in touch" and send them on their way.

There's always another model to take her place. Always.

When we shoot BDSM and I *much* prefer it if a model brings along a chaperone, especially the first time we shoot with her. It worries me immensly how many young girls will travel for miles to be tied up and beaten by strangers - often without so much as telling someone where they'd be.

It is normal for the 'someone' to show up at the first shoot...

Once it is considered safe that person should take a 'walk' and come back when the shoot is over. They should not come back to more shoots. If they do then the girl probably isn't worth her time anyway.

That is exactly what we do. For castings we do allow "friends" to come over, but leave them in the room nest door. On the other hand, when shooting the real sets, we never allow any "friends" around. Both photographer and the girl must not be disturbed in any way for the pics to be perfect.

I dont care if they bring a girlfriend to the office but the friend isnt allowed in the shoot area.

I dont deal with handlers or pimps anyways because they think they can run the shoot. Everytime you tell the girl to move to a different position they have to look over at the dude to see if its OK. Fuck that, Im in charge here if you cant think for yourself you gotta bounce.

As long as it's just a friend and not a boyfriend. Interview, I guess it wouldn't matter, shoot, no boyfriends.

This only applies to new girls, girls who have been doing it a while, it's usually not a problem, and if it becomes one, I just ask him to leave.

We encorage the girls to bring a chaperone to the shoots to see how we do things and to make sure the girl is safe. What we do to stop the chaperone from butting in is explain to the girls that if their escort stops or hinders our production we will stop the production, they will not get paid, and will be escorted oout of the studio.

Since we have built a good name for ourselves and that all the models know the #1 rule in my studio is the crew is not allowed to touch the models and the models are not allowed to touch the crew, plus having females on the crew, we dont get the normal issues from most of the models.

The words of a professional. I'm in business to make money and if they need to bring a friend I will tell them to go find another shooter. Fortunately I have an enormous studio and enough kit to prove. Plus my wife is doing the interviewing and shooting.

Very true.

I will sometimes let a friend come in on a casting, but never a shoot. I don't care if they are the other end of the building, they could put off the model. On video we need them moaning out the orgasm, tough if their mate is sitting in the next room. Break times they are chatting away while we're trying to build a bridge to her to improve the work.

I find it very easy to get rid of males and especially boyfriends from shoots and castings. Those that insist on being there can go home early and take their friends.

I just ask them if they could have the 'friend' hang out all day at micky d's while they are working . . I shoot on a closed set . . I am a professional photographer, I shoot under my terms and conditions . . it's to distracting AND one of the 'friends' took a blank check and tried to cash it for 2K a few years ago . .

Always allow them to bring someone with them on the interview, and perhaps even to make them feel comforable during their first shoot. Your trying to get a girl to come to your office / studio to post naked for you. I'd imagine it could come off as being a bit "creepy" for some women.

If they want to bring a girlfriend or two, fine. Jordan Capri came in with her friend who was there for an interview. We ended up shooting both of them that night, later dropped the original girl who came in for an interview, and Jordan Capri both has her own site and is still shooting for Lightspeed Cash.

As for "boyfriends".... Yeah, some of them are like pimps. They should be welcome to the interview to make them feel comfortable. As for photo shoots, they should be allowed to come but not sit in on the photo shoot itself.

I'm with most on this one, I don't allow for escorts, boyfriends or pimps on set .. they are more then welcomed to come and look around, feel the crew so to speak, But if the loaction is only one area then it's out the door as soon as the make up is down, earlier if the escort is chatting up the model while the Make up artist is working ...

I just find it too disracting, besides if he wants he can wait out in the car .. or around the corner at the coffee shop .., Under no cercumstance will I jeoperdize my shoot cus a Model felt unconfortable. If that's the case I didn't do my job right from the get go. Book someone else!

My first photo shoot with Tom Mayes was funny. I didnt know him ..never heard of him. he was from the west coast.. I was on the east. We decided to do the shoot at my g/fs house.. mainly because she had a pool we could use but for me it was safety. I felt pretty comfortable with him by the end of the pool shoot. We then headed for the beach to catch the last bit of sun..I pulled my g/f aside and made her write the lis. plate number down and if i didnt call her within 3 hours..call the police. Everything was cool... Tom was more than professional and we had a great model photog relationship for many years after that...never took anyone as a bodygaurd once I felt safe.

I always let them bring somebody if they want, I figure whatever makes her more comfortable I'm ok with. I always cover everything thats going to happen before the day of the shoot anyway and stick to it. I have had to tell boyfriends that if they didn't keep their mouth shut they would have to leave, but have never had any real problems. Most girls ask if it's ok just to hear your reaction but end up coming alone anyway. No more than one 'friend' though and I've actually gotten some of the friends to join in on the shoots.

I always required a friend for the interview. After that, they could hang around it they wanted. With 1 stipulation. If they made a sound, even utter 1 word, it was over, no cash, no nothing. Goodbye.

I have no problem with them bringing a friend for the interview, nor to the shoot. I do insist however that no friend or chaperone be on the set while I'm shooting. Allowed it a few times early on and it was a headache dealing with the model being constantly distracted.

This saves me typing

I agree with Dean, we don't allow people on the shoot. We are happy to meet their chaperones before the shoot to make sure they are happy with the situation but having them there is the kiss of death.

If the model asks if she can bring her boyfriend or friend or whatever, my standard reply was always "Do you bring him/her to work when you go to your regular job?"

Case closed.
Perfect answer!

Never.Never.Never. Why?
1.Because i have the money and i make the rules. Girls are in thousands, MONEY NOT.
2. Escorts always destruct the erotic atmosphere. Without it is better, and cheeper, shooting my fridge.

I always tell my girls that I will allow them to bring someone with them, but ONLY if they accept responsibility for their actions, and if they are willing to sit in another room or outside until I have what I need if they are being distracting. Giving them a feeling of comfort is fine with me, as long as it doesn't interfere with my goals. I only ever had issue with ONE "tagalong" a model brought, and I gave her the choice of asking her friend to wait outside, or ending the shoot right there and they would leave with no pay. Her friend sat outside, we finished the shoot, and all was good in the world.
