Movie trailer leads to pornography
http://www.kare11.com/news/ts_articl...storyid=119338
Also video of news on site. On Friday New Line Cinema will release the movie "Running Scared." New Line's idea of promoting the film beforehand is something Dr. David Walsh, President of the National Institute on Media and the Family, says every parent should know about. "One of the promotion acts is to play this video game," Walsh said in a press conference on Thursday. What he's talking about is a link on the movie's official Web site that says "play game". That link to the online game has two versions the user can play. Version one is there for people under age 17 and version two says it is for mature audiences over the age of 17. An inquiring kid could easily choose the adult version. The only thing that is between the child and playing the adult version of the game is a birth date making them older than 17. Anyone can enter a bogus birthday and with just one online lie, your child could be playing with pornography. "You literally engage in oral sex as a player of the game," Walsh says. The sex scenes are very graphic as they allow the player to direct a sex scene using arrow keys. It is graphic both in pictures and in sound. "It's really a surprise a company would do something like this knowing it is easily accessible to kids," Walsh said of the films production company, New Line Cinema. Late Wednesday, New Line Cinema executives issued a statement to KARE 11 saying, "We are in the process of reviewing the content and accessiblity of the "Running Scared" online game. There is currently an age-verification system in place which restricts access to adults. If we find inappropriate use of the site, we will address it accordingly." But as long as it's available Dr. Walsh and organization concerned, so for the second time in less than a year Dr. Walsh is issuing a nationwide parental alert. "Watch what your kids watch, kids are watching this and we hope that New Line Cinema pulls this off their Web site," Walsh said. Last summer Walsh issued his first alert over the game Grand Theft Auto-San Andreas--for its pornographic content. Walsh won because game maker, Take 2 Entertainment, then made new versions; one without the porn and another, with an adult only rating. What's shocking about the "Running Scared" game is that it's more easily accessed than a store bought video game. It's not something a parent has to buy, it's available online, to anyone savvy enough to log on and lie about their age. oh no~~~!!! haha good thing they don't know about tgps ![]() |
