It takes courage to be vulnerable. Good for you. And good luck to you in your next chapter.

Trixxxia 02-17-2006 10:52 PM

sonofsam - I haven't read the responses other than your initial post. Good luck to you :) I hope you find your equilibrium again. Gotta enjoy a bit of this life to remember what you're fighting for! Good Luck and I can't wait to start seeing your toons again :)

Donny 02-17-2006 10:57 PM

SoS.... sharing this here is fine no matter what others may say.

Buying the bike... don't do it. Seriously.

Breakups suck badly. Airing out your laundry here can actually help with that, as I'm sure you've experienced. 4.5 years... that's going to take some time to get over. I went through something very similar, but had a son with her. I lay curled up in a ball on the floor of my office for a few weeks. It was horrible. I don't envy what you've experienced or will experience in the near future. I'll chat with you too, if you'd like. Talking can help. Being alone can help also. Depends on the day. Good luck.

That is damn right. It does take courage, especially for a male.

Mike, sorry to hear about your breakup, bro. Things happen for a reason and as long as you keep learning and keep positive, I see nothing but brighter days ahead for ya.

Syl 02-17-2006 11:52 PM

SOS good luck to you and I am sure, as hard as it is to believe now, this ex girlfriend will soon be a distant memory. Especially when you do meet Mrs. Right. In the meantime I think the advice to have fun is good, but don't forget who you are and what you want meaning dont go lay everyone in site because you think it will help you get over the other. It often only makes you feel worse imo. Again, good luck to you in the future. :)

chadglni 02-18-2006 12:03 AM

Ah who gives a shit where he posted it. Don't kill yourself on the bike SoS, I'd hold off on that one too. Perhaps a go-kart to get you by? :1orglaugh

1.) I'm no longer with epiccash... so if you have anything you need help with or anything, please forward it to Jim or Jeff or any of those other guys, and they will be happy to help... There's no drama, and it's no ones business other then me and epiccash's...I still love the crew over at epiccash, and wish them the very best... They have a lot of great things in store for '06... I don't want this to turn into one of those "rep x leaves company x" threads... i just figured i'd throw it into this thread as a heads up, so people know not to contact me about epic stuff... please also don't ask me why i'm no longer with epic... but be sure there is no drama involved.

2.) the reason i've been edgy, is because my relationship with my gf of 4.5 years ended a little over a week ago... I'm 19 so i've never had to deal with anything like this before.. but i'll just say it has been a complete mindfuck and i need some time to gather myself and figure out what i'm going to do...

also i'd like to offer some of you other people advice on that subject

4.5 years ago, i had an amazing social life... was out almost every day, had a beautiful girlfriend... I'm the kind of guy that doesn't let a girl pay for anything when shes with me, regardless of my financial situation... So i decided to start my own business (my program)... everything i have done to this date, was to secure a good future for me and my gf so that she would never have to work etc... so i kinda became obsessed with working on my program.. I slowly began to push all my friends out of my life, cause i had the mindset that fun can come later... and that i need to get my hustle on now...

Big mistake. i got to the point where i was working till 5am everyday, then waking up really late and starting to work again... see my gf for a few hours, and then get back to work... a vicious cycle. It got to the point where i didn't really even feel like going out places with my GF , cause i would rather work cause i came kind of obsessed with it...

so even though i was doing this shit all with the motivation of securing a future with my gf, i was pushing her more and more out of my life... to the point of actually not being part of my life anymore.

So now i've somewhat had a revelation, and thought i'd share it with you guys... don't get too caught up in your work... in this past week and a bit, i've started seeing my old friends again and started going out every day and remember what living was actually like...

..

Nice to know you.

Here is some advice from someone who is like you (work ethic) but is 10 years older then you. I can give you a little preview of the future.

Don't ever compromise your goals for anyone, GF, wife, friends anything. Not when it comes to your financial freedom. If you give in and slack for a women and then 5 years from now she leaves you, what do you ahve to show for it, she just cost you 5 years of your life that you could have been using building towards YOUR future. If those close to you can not understand what is important to you and be supportive then they are not worth giving up anything for. I can see a GF getting pissed " Why don't you spend more time with me, etc..." you are not married to this person so honestly, you may be doing it for them too, but until it is half theirs (lol get a prenup) they wont feel like you are doing it for them too. Shit, even then wives have a hard time understanding that we do all of our hard work for them too. What they don't understand is that we do not really enjoy this, work is work, so not only do we not get to spend time with them (which sucks for us too) we are also working a lot. From their end, they don;t get to spend that much time with us either but shit at least they don't have to work like 100 hours a week. They seem to think they have it sooo hard being with us.... oh i never get to see him, well bitch it sucks for me too that i dont get to see you AND i am the one working my ass off, so cut me some slack....

Anyway, friends are important. I lost most of mine because I started about 7 years ago working my ass off while everyone else was partying. Although i keep close with a few that are still my business partners today. My suggestions, associate with people who have the same goals as you (likely other people in this industry) and let the be your friends. You can still make time for your old friends but don't feel like you are missing out on anything, you can still make a little time to do stuff with them. Trust me, in 10 - 20 years when they are still working pay check to pay check and you are retired sitting on the bitch they will WISHED that they had been more like you. They will miss out on the rest of their lives, you will be living yours. My moto, I would rather work my ass off for 10 years and retire and enjoy live for the next 50 years, instead of working 9 - 5 and trying to make ends met for the next 50 years just to retire on social security and live poor for the last 10 years of my life. So you might sacrafice going out and partying, so you might only go out 1 time a week instead of 5.... look at the big picture and thing about your whole life, not the next couple years. People say live for today, and enjoy it. I tell them they sound like they are betting they are going to die young with that attitude, if they live for today and don't die young they will be wishing their were dead when they are 70 and still working at walmart.

Don't compromise your goals, people should understand, if they don;t it;s not your problem and don;t feel bad moving on without them. Also keep in mind if you aren;t making that much and/or blowing your money then all of what you are doing is for nothing as well. If you are saving, and re-investing, and working towards financial freedom, then stay the course... when you are 19 all the GF's seem like they are the one, etc... the world gets a lot clearer after you go through that a few times, and possibly a few marriages too. It's not the end of the world, you will find the one in the future... and if you never do then you will be able to buy all the good looking ass you want with all the money you have made ;)

take it easy and keep doing what you are doing. I like your attitude, if you need any help let me know.

CybermedAndy 02-18-2006 12:26 AM

life is a bitch but you do what you have too.
If I didnt have the money the system would win so it my go to the supreme court.
thats just what I'm dealing with this week and I have a 1000 situations from my past as I'm sure many others do as well..

make your money, work hard and only trust yourself and the rest will follow..
Most of us dont care for drama or have time for it.

Good luck I'm sure you will be fine.

and the best way to get over a girl is to get under another

CuriousToyBoy 02-18-2006 01:15 AM

Go hard mate - and enjoy yourself.

Hit me up when the dust settles some and let's see if I can;t help getting you some traffic.

Admire your style, ESPECIALLY for a 19 year old and ESPECIALLY for this industry.

You'll go far.

Take care and good luck.

Boys night out on the right... I suggest you podcast this shit daily bro...

19yo is to young to have a girlfriend! And this is why!

As for fun and all and hermitizing yourself... It only takes about 2 years and you are making a lot of money and you can slow down... but trying to get into the business at a slow pace makes it more like 5 or 6...

Theo 02-18-2006 02:06 AM

JOKER 02-18-2006 02:48 AM

Hey Mike,

good post, took courage and balls to come here and talk open :thumbsup

Fuck the haters, some of these responses show alot more than the words actually written.

As you also see many people have been there and will get to where you are now, relationships and life are like that.

You have your heart on the right spot and the courage and drive to get thru whatever happens just fine, all it takes is some time.

Keep on working hard and do what you have to do to treat yourself from time to time, you'll be fine faster than you know what happend.

You'll always have my support, simply cause you're a guy that deserves nothing less.

Keep your head up and your feet on the ground bro, you'll be fine in no time :thumbsup

Steve

sonofsam 02-18-2006 06:52 AM

thanks to everyone for your comments in this thread... i really do appreciate it.

i just got home... it's 5:47am.. and i'm drunk and numb...

it feels good to be going out again though... tonight i watched one of my good friends fight with his gf to the point of where she tried to jump out of a moving car while we were going to a party... and seeing that kind of drama, really opened my eyes..... cause i've been in the same situation before myself..

i am 19 years old... i have my entire life ahead of me and shouldn't be stressing out so much... i had a blast tonight, and reminded me of how i used to be before i got obsessed with workin so much..

cheers to everyone :thumbsup and goodnight

p.s. i love you all... seriously :)

Cheers to ya' SoS for puttin' out an honest post. Too bad about the GF, but as you said...you're 19. Still plenty 'o fish in the sea.

Take it from a 40-somethin' yr. old - 19's way too young to consider buckling down to a serious relationship. You got a LOT of years ahead to enjoy that.

Myself, I never married until I was in my thirties - and don't regret waiting one iota. Gave me a chance to party my face off, enjoy the company of good buddies, see the world a little...and kill off a few liver cells. Sure, there were many GF's back then - but they weren't a priority. Now they're just fond memories.

I'll join the chorus of sayin' avoid gettin' the bike, though. I'm a biker at heart, but those crotch rockets are just trouble waitin' to happen.

Crank out a few cartoons. They're missed. :winkwink:

bjjb 02-18-2006 02:17 PM

Dont really know ya bro, but you showed me that you are one of the kindest most generous people I know. I still hear from them how appreciative they are. That in my book says ALOT about a man. You're top notch. Far as the GF thing goes, dont sweat it. I know its painful. But hell youre 19. Goddamn I wish I was and could change a few things. That said, you cant change anything either other than your self. So take it all in stride and make your life better. Just takes time

graphicspimp 02-19-2006 03:51 AM

all the best, you seem like a good guy
