That's kinda why I asked. Most of my experience with inventment has been with venture capital firms and muuuch bigger stakes. But there is a big difference between an individual's pet project and a massive media play that requires teams of developers, office space, etc.

If you don't have a measly $2500, chances are your 'entrepreneurial' idea is worthless and you are a loser.

There was a time in my life when I was barely covering my living expenses and eating mostly ramien, I did not have a measly 2500.00 let alone 250.00.
Only thing I really did have was a crap load of bills coming in, little income, and a few ideas. I did everything I could to borrow, beg, pawn, and save so that I could scrape up a few hundred to try and make it out of the shit storm I was currently in.
I was far from being a loser and my ideas paid off. I just was unfortunate in my life at the period and had to fight my way out.

When your back is to the wall you would be amazed at what you could do with so little.

Yes, I just threw that number out there for a ballpark. If the project is right and I'm comfortable with the person I might fork over around $10K. Might have to be in milestones though to reduce risk.

I invested $2500.- in my own project and got in return $10.000.-
That is what I call good investment!
And the best part is, I didnt do anything!

Risky ideas require risk-willing capital. You don't have to be a loser to prefer risking someone else's money and make sure you can still make rent, food and baby clothes. At some stages in life even the most entrepreneurial of us will not be willing to risk much of their own, no matter how low the risk. You can gamble with what's your own, but once you have a family you will always think twice before taking bigger chances.

Intriguing investment idea - albeit with inherent risks.

Those who say $2,500 isn't a lot for startup, obviously haven't been there/done that.

We launched KastleArchives.com for far less than that back in '99. The major investment was primarily my time and labour for creating content and handling the marketing.

Granted, we didn't roll over our initial investment into a 200% profit in the first four months. The momentum took a while.

But then again, it was still more hobby than a money-making endeavour from the beginning.

Let's see, for $2,500? I would have to spend that on advertising like a new toon site. My overhead is low so first sales are profit. Bottom line would be the value of the advertising.
