I used to play MMOG's but you are right, they consume you.

I say delete it and just stick to the games that you can turn off after an hour or two, you'll get a lot more done, and you'll still have that brainless downtime.

Shit, I used to be such a game addict, now I just stay WAY clear of them...

I'd prefer making something out of myself then playing for a few hours, then feel bad... quit for an hour, then get the craving to play for another few hours!

Played Quakeworld 1996-2000 for about 6 hours per day. Stopped completely in 2000 due to Quake3 that required about 8 hours per day to stay competitive and overall it was slower and not as fun as Quakeworld anyway.

"Pro-Gamer" that I was... I was into competition, so I learnt a lot of things on me and from my team during those years. I don't regret it one second... in fact it was the best years of my life.

But I remember in 1999 or so I was checking the progress on WOW and figured out it would be a kickass game. When it came out, I said to myself: don't even TOUCH that thing. I remember that people that were playing Everquest wasted their time and you don't learn much with those games. It's not based on skills, intelligence or anything.

I never touched any of those games. I even told one of my friend that I did not buy WOW due to all those reasons. One week later, he bought it and now he is addicted and don't even have a job. What a joke.

My new game is to become a millionaire by the end of 2007. That's at least as fun and you actually build on your future.

Some people may want to try what I do: Get permission from your gf/wife/significant other to play it thoroughly for ONE week, WIPE it off your PC, regain your composure for the next 14 weeks, then install and BINGE again.

Interesting side effect: You get TWICE as motivated handling biz and new projects after you've WIPED the game. Once you get stuck in a rut re doing your biz chores/new biz projects, install and escape for some time then DELETE and repeat.

I'm up to level 36 Gnome Rogue using this technique. Man, I'm itching to get my mount at Level 40 (GRIN)

Gene, I can absolutely relate my man. I took a 2 month "vacation" from the game before, it was the most amazingly productive time I had in years. Maybe, because you are trying to fill up the time with something better, since you have extra 4 hours to your disposal a day. Difference is, I want to stay away from it indefinitely. :thumbsup

Great intent. Good luck with it. But you are right, no matter what others say, how it shapes your character and shit, I don't believe it. Seeing 14-year-olds do just as well and better than you in it proves that it really doesn't have anything to do with you mental capacity or else...

Not sad at all, a day for joy and happiness.

That is the single reason i won't play that game. It just seems so immersive, and i can honestly see myself wasting countless hours on it.

Remove it if its taking that much of your time. I love the game, but only get to play one or twice a week. You know theres some ppl addicted to the game when they are 10 levels above since the last time you played... a week ago!

Nice man I played QuakeWorld for four years. I loved Clan Arena. I was first on Multiplayer (remember that software where you could make your own server/room for free?) and then switched to QuakeWorld (GameSpy) and started playing on American servers. Good times :thumbsup

Virtual property lost due to user error
If we can verify that your loss of virtual property was the direct result of:

• Accidental deletion (characters, items, and in-game currency).
• Accidental sale to a vendor.
• Falling victim to a scam (please refer to our Scam Policy at http://www.blizzard.com/support/wowgm/?id=agm01726p for further details on scams).
• Any other user error.

We will attempt to:

• Restore the virtual property.
• We reserve the right to refuse restoration if we feel an excessive number of requests have been made in this particular category (Although we understand that the occasional mistake can be made, we do not want players becoming careless and utilizing the GM Staff as a crutch).

If your particular case fits any of the above criteria, you may be eligible to receive assistance with the recovery of your lost goods. Due to many variables with investigating these claims, your reimbursement, if approved, may not be immediate. Keep in mind that a player and the account registered to him/her will be permitted a limited number of instances in which the GM staff will assist with property recovery. We do not wish to encourage career victims, nor will we penalize players who legitimately make the occasional slip-up. Reimbursement of any kind is NOT guaranteed. While we will make every effort to verify and restore your loss, the decision to reimburse your loss is entirely at Blizzard's discretion. If a player is repeatedly making poor decisions that result in lost property, we reserve the right to refuse further reimbursements. While we can restore items with random modifiers (of the Bear, of the Eagle, etc.), we cannot guarantee that you will receive the same modifier you had on your original item. • Account name
• Character names
• Realms the characters are on
• Level, class, and race of the characters
• Exact name of the items that were lost (if any)
• The time and date of the loss (as precisely as possible)
• How the items or characters were lost (if you know)
