Man, that brings back memories :1orglaugh . I got MCRD San Diego though; being from Texas (right in the middle) they gave us a choice, beach or swamp... wasn't really a hard decision. But saw the same thing; mostly black inner-city guys freaking out as soon as they hit the water...

Most people die from panic in the water, not from lack of swimming skills.
Although if you can't swim you would panic.

People drown in 1 foot of water.....they panic and lose their orientation I've
rescued some guy out of the water once after a drove in a canal. The water
wasn't deep at all, but people go bezerk. I had to knock the guy out before
I was able to pull him to shore it's quite amazing.

What's even more amazing is that bystanders also kinda panic.....there was like
20 people standing on shore watching the guy drown....they all could swim but
for some reason they all froze.....this happens very often. All people do is pull
a silly face and freeze....they want to help.....but they don't unless somebody
grabs them and gives them specific instructions.....then they'll snap out of it
and start moving. It's really weird....it's not that they don't want to help or
can't they just lose their common sense and freeze.

HAHA, in the navy the only ones in my company who couldn't swim were black, just not part of the culture I guess. :upsidedow

I was 5 when my dad taught me to swim. He wanted to train me to be a good swimmer. Although I believe I became a very good swimmer because of his training, I never really enjoyed joining competitions. He resented my geekish lifestyle

I swim like a dolphin...

Buzz 02-13-2006 05:12 PM

I used to be afraid of water being a kid
But spending a summer next to a major river few years in a row 'd taken the fear away.
I do swim good nowadays

WME 02-13-2006 05:39 PM

No that is to drown the child because the father sent all his traffic to the wrong affiliate program and cant pay his bandwidth bill let alone child support.

TurboAngel 02-13-2006 05:58 PM

I have seen where they give birth under water.

Stamen 02-13-2006 06:09 PM

My mom started me swimming when I was a baby, so I thought it was normal and that everyone could swim, but me and my girlfriend were at the beach and I jumped in the water and she told me she couldn't swim, so we spent some time in the pool last summer and now she swims like a fish.

The Sultan Of Smut 02-13-2006 06:13 PM

I think anyone can at least dog paddle it's the panic that kills ya.

Platinumpimp 02-13-2006 06:18 PM

I can swim for sure. :pimp

After Shock Media 02-13-2006 06:26 PM

I used to be able to swim. Now I sort of just bob assuming my legs somewhat co-operate with me. Since I lost the use of them they are rather boyant and just float up without controll and thus this messes everything up and sinks your top half if your not carefull. I can however relax and float ussually and can move somewhat in the water. It is a bitch though trying to swim or move about in the water with only your arms.

amandaspost 02-13-2006 07:22 PM

Yeah, I know how to swim

Vitasoy 02-13-2006 07:28 PM
