Anyone been to Cancun lately?

Thinking of taking the honeymoon there in early June and staying at one of the RIU hotels in the hotel zone. I'm wondering if it is easy to get around by bus or taxi there? Seems most things to go out and do are like 1-2 hours away and alot of Cancun still isn't up and running from the Hurricane.

I thought there was a few people from GFY that actually lived down there, if you still post here I would love to ask you some questions

Ya for us it is hard to decide. We would like to get something booked and the hotel we want has been open for a quite a while but we are worried about doing other things and how the places will be in June.

i visited cancun last may, and we stayed at Oasis Cancun..suposably they party resort..cancun is pretty much made up of 1 street..all hotels are based on the street..and the downtown district where all the clubs and bars are...are located right at the end of the street.. the street would take about 15 by bus ride to complete from one side to the other..so its not that long.. the transportation there is awsome..buses come every 5 minutes and its usualy a hell of a party on the bus right before you even reach downtown..the night life there is awsome and transportation is defentley not a problem. although i wouldnt reccomend Oasiss Cancun , the RIU CANCUN seemed like a beautiful place to stay in and im defentley thinking of going there as my next vacation. It is as well located right at downtown cancun, therefore you wouldnt even need to use the bus's, its bassiclly a 4 minute walk.

Well... if my passport doesn't come this week I think I'm going to switch my flight from Costa Rica to Cancun for my trip next week. I'm not expecting too much... I just want to party, drink a lot, eat a lot, and enjoy 4-5 days without staring at a computer screen all day. Cancun probably still has a ton to repair, but I would think by June it should be decent enough. Though Cancun for a honeymoon seems kind of odd to me. Cancun is a party location. Maybe for your honeymoon you might consider Cabo or Jamaica.

From what i've been reading, most of the major clubs and hotels will be running by mid-late Feb, just in time for Spring Break.

I think about half the hotels, restaurants and stores are still recovering from what I read on a Cancun blog recently.
