BuyDomains.com sucks balls

tried to buy a domain from them, they say "the domain gets 2300 hits a month", they want to sell for $6000, then they said they could discount it for $5500 like they're doing me the favor

1. what do you think a domain is worth that gets 2300 hits/month? (it is teen domain)

2. anyone know of a way to work them down to realistic price? that is fucking insane price!!!

3. i will end up not getting the domain i want so fuck them, i am totally anti-buydomains.com

they are usually way overpriced, but in this case this domain seems to be getting like 75 uniques daily, so assuming it's type-in traffic, I don't think you expected to buy it for $1000

yes the traffic is pretty much all type-in, and no i planned on paying more than $1000, but $5500 is way overpriced imho

Kinda hard to tell you if they are overpricing the domain when we don't know what it is. Just based on those type ins, it seems a bit inflated and usually their type in figures are bs also.

The funny thing about them...
They don't care if the domain is good or not.
If the domain gets enough type-ins to finance itself they won't sell it cheap (:
They want to keep the domains that make them some profit as they know the price can only increase and they try to get rid of domains that don't finance themselves. So the price they want doesn't usually reflect the real quality of the domain.

I am trying to buy a domain from them too now.
They want to sell for 10k$ i want to buy for 2k$.
If anyone here has experience with them please tell.

don't expect a big discount on their domains. It is as simple as this....if you want it pay for it. They don't care if they sell today or in 50 years, they are that well funded.

Buy domains is well-funded as shuki said. If you pass they are actually likely to up the price for the next person; therefore 10% is the best discount you are likely to get.

They own it, they can sell it for as much as they like. First class operation.

Did you get a good discount or they were priced like 1500$-2500$ at the start?
I just don't want to pay 10k$ for a crappy domain, but i like it enough for 2k$

They were a few 1000 to start. Not 5 figures. Got a decent discount, nothing spectacular tho.

I don't know the domain so I don't know if it's even worth $1000 to me but if they were asking $6000 I would have offered them back $3500-4000 to start if not even a little less based on the 2 we bought from them.

Buy it ... $5500 sounds about right for 75 uniques per day for a teen / mainstream type domain.

You might be able to get them down to $5000 or even $4500 ... but don't push too hard ... they may change their mind and raise the price.

Another method to try, which may yield even steeper discount, is put the purchase on the backburner for say a few months and then try again - sometimes people have had luck doing that ... but the risk is the domain will be sold and/or repriced higher by then.

No simple answers ... BuyDomains is in no rush to sell most of what they have ... and honestly, $5500 is reasonable consider the type-in traffic the domain supposedly gets; bet it has a nice OVT score too.

In the meantime, check out my selection of quality domains - many repriced.

Got news for you....the price sounds very fair. They are only asking 4x annual revenue. Definitely no reason to slander them. They have what you want......you can either buy it or walk away.

I've stopped contacting them regarding domains, because they usually quote 5 to 10 times above realistic market price. Of course you'll always have some people saying, "They're asking $10,000 for the domain? That's fair. Pay it.", even though the domain is really only worth $1000. That's the problem with domains, market price is very subjective depending on who you talk to. In order to know what price would be realistic to the majority, requires experience.

They have what you want. So you either pay them what they want with a slight discount or you don't get what they have. They def don't need the money. You have to ask how bad do I want the name.

I've bought at least 10 domains from them, no problems, but also no substantial discounts... even when buying domains at the same time. But I believe some of their prices are reasonable, but keep an eye on the domain for awhile before making contact or asking for price/discounts. Why? Because they update their prices often, sometimes lower or higher. If I find a domain I want from them, I usually check to see if they have it listed on Afternic. Sometimes, even if their own site has no price listed or "request price", they may have the price on Afternic. Then add the domain to your Afternic watch list and you'll get an email every time they update prices, and if you see a price you want, then jump on it. The few times I have requested price from their site, I bought it cheaper on Afternic. And other times when I've asked for a discount on a $20K domain, they bumped up the price to $50K, then down to $30K, now back to $20k, so now I'm waiting for it to drop a bit more to around $10-$15K. It's got few type-ins but the brandability is what I'm after. So bottom line: check afternic for your domain, watchlist it and then buy it if it hits your target price. But honestly, IMHO, if they've got it priced at $5K+, it's not going down to $1,000 anytime soon.

either way, good luck.

Come up with an original idea. Don't ever buy a domain name like that, waste of money.
