Is there a program that will ping your box or select urls and give you a sound if they are down?

ummm, there are a bunch of services that monitor your box and email you if there is a problem. much more reliable and inclusive than a ping

I just checked and my copy of Ping plotter will do that. you can even set it to alert you if the latency is high, and youcan set buffers and such. it'll even email you or launch a program if youwant it to.
