In some places you can request it to be transfered to a different county which makes it even more likely that they won't show up.

Here in canada, if the cop don't show up, you still go in front of the judge. If you lie and the cop can proove you did it, you'll go to jail.

Also, if htey make minor errors on the tickets, they don't throw it away anymore...

My friend just fought a ticket for a red light last week.

The cop wrote he was rolling at 70kmh, and that he was about 40 feets from the intersection when it turned yellow. So it gave him plenty of time to go through the intersection and pass it 3 times if you calculate it ;)

He got a yellow light ticket instead.

Red : $180 3 points
Yellow : $60

I was with a friend of mine in his dad's friend's Rolls Royce Silver Cloud. We got pulled over for speeding and I got a ticket. When I went to court the cop testified that I was on the left side of the car. The steering wheel on that car is on the right. Not Guilty!

I didn't say anything when the cop wrote me the ticket although it was pretty obvious that I didn't have a steering wheel in front of me.

It was a 1961 that looked pretty much like this one:

It happened about 1980 when I was in college.

And you KNEW you weren't guilty? That sucks.

If I knew I wasn't guilty and only got it reduced, I'd be fuckin' pissed.

Just out of curiosity, what evidence did they have against you, if you definitely weren't guilty? What evidence did YOU have?

J-$ once got a ticket for doing burnouts... wich he didn't do.

The cop didn't saw him, but said that when he arrested him, it smelled like burn.

Bunch of bullshit... he fought it, just sai the truth, and lost.

Yeah, that's bullshit and proves my whole point.

If you have ANY evidence, you need to bring it in, because chances are, the cops have nothing but their word. Then you at least have a chance.

But if you go in with just YOUR word against theirs, you're probably going to lose.

Which is entirely contradictory to the "Presumed innocent until proven guilty" standard, imo.

Wrote her for 5 over is different than stopped her for going 5 over...if your daughter said she was going only 5 over, and doing nothing else wrong, I'd be skeptical. Where I live, police won't typically stop you for speeding unless you're going more than 10 mph over, but then reduce the speed on the ticket to allow for radar error (and thus reduce your chances of contesting it) and depending on how they feel about the situation. So you might be doing 15 over, and get a ticket for 5 over. Look at the ticket and see if the officer wrote another number somewhere on it, like a 47 with a circle around it or something, which can indicate the radar-reported speed.

every time. Its a lot cheaper.

But their word is all that they need most of the time.:2 cents:

That is too funny. Did you have to pay court fees still?
