This took place middle January but I just heard about this Vermont case and I'm just still trying to understand what the fuck this judge was thinking. He gave the guy 60 days and no that's not a misprint.
diggersrealm.com/mt/archives/001489.html Sicko CONFESSES that he raped the girl from age 6-10 and the judge says that he no longer believes in punishment, only rehabilitation. While the judge is so extremely worried about him is he thinking about this child? About the years of mental help she's going to need? Oh I forgot we should care about the hurt feelings of an adult child rapist. I'm a woman and if I walked outside and robbed a store without a weapon I wouldn't even be eligible to see the sun for years, but he can walk away after 2 months? Mark Hulett repeatedly raped a young girl for four years; from the time she was seven until she was 10. He was convicted of this heinous crime. The prosecution sought eight to 20 years in prison. The judge decided that 60 days was appropriate for the crime. Judge Edward Cashman found the time after his lenient sentence to lecture those in attendance, mostly those related to the young victim. He told them, "The one message I want to get through is that anger doesn't solve anything. It just corrodes your soul." He explained why he no longer supports punishment, but is more concerned with rehabilitation. "I discovered it [punishment] accomplishes nothing of value; it doesn't make anything better; it costs us a lot of money; we create a lot of expectation, and we feed on anger," said the Vermont judge. Cashman apparently did not anticipate that his ruling would also provoke the thing he said he was trying to avoid - anger. |

It is judges like that, that make me question the justice system seriously.
That is ridiculous, 60 days in jail! The guy should have been in jail for well over a decade, perhaps longer! |

Yeah after being called a damn moron enough times he upped it to 3 to 10 years, but we all know the good behavior thing. Well that's if the other inmates lets him live that long.
