I am like the firggin Gestapo when it comes to carseats. Even if you are doing everything right, it just takes one idiot putting on her lipstick in the rearview or chattering away on his cellphone to smash you. You know how they say objects left lying around your car can become dangerous projectiles in a collision? Same thing happens to an unsecured child, and anyone who puts their child in that position is an asshole, in my opinion. I won't even cross a parking lot without my kids buckled. Even my 11yo knows the car doesn't go into gear until I hear his seatbelt click. I've reported probably 5 or 6 people to the cops for driving small children around unsecured, and followed them until the cops came just to be sure nothing happened to the kids, and I would hope if someone saw my kids being driven around unbuckled and/or carseated, they would do the same.
