What is considered a 'successful' paysite these days?

$100 per week?
$2000 per week?

What's considered successful when it comes to a paysite?

It probably depends on costs, expectations, and future goals for expansion.

Consider this is only a $1b industry, there is only 1000 of those millions to go around. So if a site were to bring in $12m, per year, that would be roughly 1/100th of the entire adult industry.

It seems highly unlikely that anyone could capture 1/100th of online adult.

Online adult is only a $1b industry?

*crunches some numbers*

...that works out to about $43 a webmaster.

Many sites process that much and more.

Our amateur site I would assume is not one of the biggies, but we clear around 15k per month after paying out affilliates etc. I know how much work I have to do to make that, and could not imagine what I would have to do to make 1 mill a month.

Success would depend on the owners.

If you have 2 different sites with two different owners.
Owner A runs a Ma & Pa type of business and is based say in the Midwest out of their house. Does all the work themselves and clears 5 grand a month after affiliates, content, hosting, traffic, and so on. Lives modestly and manages money well.

Owner B runs a structured business and is based in say LA. Has a staff of four that do all of the work in an office. They clear 25 grand a month after affiliates, content, hosting, traffic, and so on. Each employee has average bills for the area and are ok with money management.

End of the month owner A has 5k to cover cost of living.
End of the month owner B pays off the rent, gives out the salaries and well odds are would have less money to cover cost of living than owner A would.
