Had a teller at a drive up window give me an accidental extra 400.00 once. Did not notice until I was at the store. Promptly went back to the bank and returned it to her.

Banks knows anyways ... they would have called you (if you got an account there).

Once they gave 1200 $ of change too much (my friend owns a bar) to one of his guys and they called him like a week later when they found out... looked at the videos etc

I got short changed $40 two nights ago by an ATM, a bill had a tear in it and got caught in the machine and kept another one from getting out. I guess the next guy got something extra.

I did not want the teller to come up short anyways. I do have an account there and have been with them a long time. I like everyone that works there and the last thing I wanted was the teller to get yelled at or canned.

One time my son and I were behind a really old guy at the drive up atm, he was soooo confused he didn't even realize he completed a transaction and he pulled away and left his cash sitting in the slot/door. So we grabbed it quick and caught him before he left the parking lot, boy was he happy...

Made me feel good to do something like that with my kid in the car, good example and all

I got taken for $485 from an E-Trade ATM machine here. I had to jump through 15 million hoops to get the money back.

I stuck my card in the machine, entered my pin, entered the amount and it went through the process of spitting out money... only no money came out! I was pissed!

That happened to my hubby, he wasn't paying attention and $100 got sucked back into the machine. It took the bank 45 business days to add it back into the account, and I reckon if I hadn't kept calling and harrassing them about it they wouldn't have done anything.

I can say that I have been shortchanged by ATM's. It looks like you received the money that I was shorted. It least it was someone deserving.

I cashed a check once for $500 at somebody else's bank. The girl gave me $5000.

As she was counting it, I was laughing. When she finished, I said, "Honey, you'd better thank your lucky stars that I'm an honest guy." and told her what she'd done.

I truly believe that you reap what you sow, get what you give, it all comes around, etc. I guess that's why I'm so damned lucky.

A year ago in Vegas I was getting some money out at the Imperial Palace. There were two ATM's and the guy next to me was having all kinds of problems. He finally walked away pissed off when all of a sudden the damn machine started spitting out twenties ... $200-some-odd bucks. I spent nearly a half an hour trying to track the guy down and finally found him. When I told him what happened, he took the money without barely looking up from his slot machine and mumbled a vaque "thanks".

I'm way too honest...I'd take it back to the bank. I even tell the check out chick's at the supermarket when they give me 5 cents too much change. Honesty is the best policy (well...that's what my mum says and she's old so she should know!)

Thats the irony of banks. They'll hound you down if they give you an extra 5$. They've taken all the precautions so that if it happens, they'll get their money back.

BUT, if its the other way around, well then your screwed. You gotta hassle them to death if you want them to do anything.

I went to the casino with some buddies to play some blackjack. I drew out 200 dollars and got 400. I was ready to go home. Figured i already beat the house. Took me a while to realise I'd pushed the wrong button. ;)

I got shorted $60 once. Receipt showed that I got screwed so I was going to go to the bank the next day, but after getting home and looking online, the machine reimbursed me about a minute later.

I got shorted a couple times and used the phone they have next to the teller to tell her... apparently the machine knew it was out of cash, reported it, and deposited in my account. The other time I just stood in line twenty minutes and gave the human the receipt - they checked the transaction saw the machine gave me short, and paid out.

But another time I deposited $400 in someone else's account and it never showed up there. That was four months ago. I'm still harassing them for it and they tell me they have to do a whole quarter's accounting to find the deposit they received but never shelled out.

Would I return it? Betcha I would.

First it's right. Second - they would know they over paid and it would probably disappear from your account the next day lol !

I took out 350.00 once, and nothing came out...even had to put a few items back in the grocery store.

Called my bank and had to go sign some papers, stating I wasn't lieing ...took almost 2 weeks to get the money bank into my bank account :-(

Always count your money and double check everything!

Once my girlfriend got to much $$ from the bank, they called her at home 1 hr later...asked her to return it, we were already walking out the door to do so.

So banks gets the cash in 1 hr and I get mine back in 2 weeks, lovely!

I took out $400 once and only got $360 when the machine jammed and started making clunking noises.

Went to the bank the next morning and they confirmed it and gave me the $40 I got shorted.

Always count your ATM money!

I haven't ever gotten too much money from an ATM machine, nor too less... but I did find out one day from the telephone banking that the systems were down & nobody could tell what my bank balance was, so I went & purposely withdrew more than I had.

I had to pay it back of course... but it was fun while it lasted!

No, but once lost $60... ATM had some processing error, so I assumed it didnt hit my account... when I checked my account online that night it debited and I threw out my transaction record with the error message so there was no way I could prove anything. Oh well.
