Academy Award nominations announced

For those of us that don't care that they are nonesense at times but follow them anyway.

I'm waiting for the full list because they went too fast for me to type but my first thoughts are that the strongest category is best supporting actor and the biggest suprise is how much attention Munich go in the nominations.

They also prove that I really need to see Walk The Line when it comes out here this week.

I want Reese Witherspoon to win if only because I love her in Freeway and Election and I would love her to get rewarded for doing good work rather than ditzy teen stuff.

Johnny Depp should be on there somewhere.

I wouldn't care if he didn't even make a movie in 2005, he should be listed for something.

Those of you that don't like arty films but want to see something on the lists check out A History Of Violence.

I don't really care much about the Oscars this year. I've only seen two of the best picture nominees and both of them were flawed.

As long as Philip Seymour Hoffman wins for Capote, then I'll be happy. I haven't actually seen Capote but they guy is brilliant in even the lamest of films, so he deserves a major honour like this.

I'm a movie geek and even I've only seen 2 of the best picture nominations....Crash was brilliant and Good Night and Good Luck was really good, but I think it got the nom more for political reasons than artistic reasons...

I was really glad to see Paul Giamatti get nominated for Best Supporting Actor for "Cinderella Man." I loved that movie and right after seeing it, I thought Giamatti should get the nomination. I'd love for him to win but who knows with the Academy this year. They are so crazy for "Brokeback Mountain" that they'll probably give it to Jake Gyllenhaal.

Boy, can you say that again! The guy is an amazing actor. Check out "Love LIza," or "Happiness," or watch his arrival in his first scene in "The Talented Mr. Ripley." He just totally owns that scene and takes it over. It'll be great to see Hoffman get his due as he WILL win for Best Actor.

Jake was better than Heath in my view so I am glad he was nominated. However, I have an odd feeling Matt Dillon might be walking away with it.

Despite admirations, Brokeback Mountain faces a pitched battle for best movie because the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has never before given its top honor to a film with an overtly gave love story.
