				 | Anyone get migraines? I get a bad migraine once every 4-8 weeks, which usually lasts over 4 hours. I woke up 7 hours ago with a migraine that could kill a horse... It was so intense I puked. ... and going on 7 hours I still have it. I took tylenol and everything else I have in the house.. what do you do when you get a killer migraine?

				 | Same here Imitex is the only thing that works! And you need to nip it as soon as it starts! Stay in a cool dark room and try and relax! Good luck! |

				 | I get killa headaches like that occasionally too. I have put it down to too much concentrating on PC monitor. You might check your monitor's refresh rate and set it as high as possible, it seems to help. |

				 | I used to get migraines all the way up through 9th grade. I would take some painkillers, lay in a dark room and go to sleep. I don't think I've ever had a migraine bad enough to make me puke though. I'd consult a physician. And 9th grade is also when I started working out heavily. As I got in better shape, the migraines stopped. I don't know if you exercise regularly, but you could try it out and see if the migraines stop that way. Usually pain is a sign that something is wrong with your body, so you shouldn't try to ignore it or turn it off with painkillers. That's not a permanent solution in my opinion.

				 | I get them, too, and so does my son. My doc said unless you have a stomache virus, migraines are the only headache that will make you puke just from the headache, and all of mine and my son's are that bad. I'm not on any meds right now, but I've kept track of my triggers so I can avoid them, and if I feel one coming on anyway, I pop 2 or 3 Naproxin Sodium (I forget the brand name..Aleve I think.) as SOON as I feel it, and usually I catch it in time. Another thing I've found that works a little is soaking my feet in warm water or taking a hot bath because it draws the blood out of my head and makes the pounding feel a little better. |

				 | I get Migraines often.. I have my whole life, and almost every one makes me throw up. If you wait too long no matter what you take, advil etc won't help. A family friend one time gave me a muscle relaxer and that really helped, because the headache is so bad you have a tendancy to tense up your neck muscles and it makes it worse. One thing that really really helps is lavender.. It doesn't kill the pain of course but it really relaxes you and enables you to sleep .. I have a lavender eye pouch, it's a life saver when those things hit and I don't catch them in time for advil, etc to work. Dark rooms, sleep, relaxing, and no TV is really the only thing that makes em go away! Hope you feel better... |

				 | I have had migraines for as long as I remember. They used to make me throw up as well. I have been given every pain killer known to man. The ONLY thing that makes them go away are Aleve. I take 3 aleve, and it is gone within half an hour. |

I wouldn't wish it upon my worst enemy. Before any physical activity I usually just take a couple of Advils and try to drink a LOT of water. Good luck to you man. | |

				 | i always have Excedrin and Excedrin PM in stock in the medicine cabnit lol i was in a bad car accident years ago, got whiplash really bad (tore some deep tissue muscle), and it acts up alot since i stare straight ahead all day, everday (lookin at the computer screen), and it triggers migraines. last year, it was so bad, that i had to go to the doctors and he presribed me muscle relaxers and then he offered to give me a shot in my ass of medicine that would make the migraine go away in 10 mins but he warned me that the shot was going to be very painful and indeed it was!! about 10 seconds after the needle was removed, it started to sting and burn so bad that i was screaming it felt as if i had been shot in the ass by a bullet. very painful but only lasted a minute and the migraine went away but when you have a severe migraine, you'll do anything to get rid of the pain!!!! its been a year since then, but i have to go re-visit the doc cuz my neck pain is coming back, and triggering small migraines. |

				 | Verbal.. I get the same thing from sports! When I go to the gym, I have to make sure I drink plenty of water and I usually take an advil before hand just in case. I have to do that before any kind of street festival in the summer as well because the sun can trigger them for me. Muscle relaxers really work.. but I don't ever have them. |

				 | migraines suck the biggest balls. I always feel mine coming in in the back of the neck and it starts consuming my whole head...lots of good advice in this thread. I take 4 ibruprofen or painkillers if I have them and lay in a dark room and try to sleep it off. |

				 | The Imitrex pills work, like I mentioned...but the old school Imitrex shots were the best thing to come along at the time. I still miss those, almost instant pain killer. |

				 | I get them once in while. Take imitrex, take hydroconone, turn off the lights, turn off the noise & take a 30 minute nap. Usually works.
