I know we often make fun of "less gifted" americans, BUT seriously, are americans really that clueless about the rest of the world or are we talking about only the few % here?

Just most american sports fans... :2 cents:

This is not all that strange of a questions as some countries to, to entertain thier american Tourists. No its not the same as in the US, but they shoot off fireworks, and usually have some type of party. Not all countires mind you. But some do.

Which country other than the USA celebrates American Independence Day?

WonderWoman 01-30-2006 12:48 PM

I once had a woman who I worked with... she was very senior and served in the Gulf War ask me where I was from.

When I told her Palestine... she said.. is that the same as Pakistan?

I was speechless.

Ah yes... and when I moved to Jordan... I had more than one person say to me "Jordan... they gave Michael Jordan a country?!?!"

Wiggles 01-30-2006 12:55 PM

i am surprised they could actually even bomb anyone, they wouldn't know which country is which.

Lord Nelson 01-30-2006 01:02 PM

Surprised they didn't call it "Norwegia."

xcitecash 01-30-2006 01:09 PM

problem is you guys only get home news

you dont get to know what the rest of the world thinks of the US because your government doesn't want you to know most of it..
i like you though

This would be who for example? There aren't all that many US Tourists about the world - you guys tend to stay in your own surroundings.

Bluewire Ross 01-30-2006 06:10 PM

geography is a basic knowledge each and everyone should know...

Why 01-30-2006 06:22 PM

i dont know, i have pretty good geography skills.

but then again, i know some pretty stupid people, on all sides of the ocean.

reynold 01-30-2006 08:40 PM

Shame on that man who does not even know that Norway is a state/country. My 5th grade sister knows even its capital.
