I think that if most cops were bad, we would mostly fear them and not trust them. That's NOT the case in most communities. I've had good and bad experiences with them but I've never kept tabs on how many good versus bad, but I think I've had more good experiences.

One has to try not to assume that because they had problems with police that all or most are bad. I think that's a stereotype that's only probably deserving of police in specific regions.

I do agree with those that say the profession probably attracts certain types of individuals more than other occupations.

Go to Mexico and you'll see what bad cops are like. It's not that they're inherently worse, but their are economic factors at play, and the repurcussions of being a good cop in places like Mexico is harsh (be good and other officers might kill you).

Personally, I have had more good things happen with cops than bad so as a force as I think they are good but obviously it breaks down to individuals. As such there are good and bad individual cops.

Cops do more good then bad... and we need them. I've had a few fuckups and been fucked by one of them before, but in the end, we need them.

It's our laws that are the problem... like the war on drugs.

Crooked cops are pretty much useless and feared.

I am not a criminal, so cops are good to me..
When I need them I call them and they come down and take care of the problem, rowdy drunk tenants can be such a pain in the ass.

I have my share of run ins with the cops and even then when I had done something wrong (drive suspended etc) the cops were good to me.
Like the time I was in a local hang out and a cop stopped me and asked if I was carrying any drugs and of course I said no I wasn't.
The cop asked if could check me out to make sure I wasn't carring drugs.
Of course I let him and he found my little bag of weed and then said I lied to him about not having drugs, I just told him I had not lied, that marijuana was not drugs but medicince. So in the end he took my weed and let me go.
Personally I think he just wanting to smoke some good shit and had been having a problem getting some being a cop and all.

Lets not forget that cops are human beings. They are just like you and me.

With that in mind....

They can get pissed off.
They can be nice.
They can overreact.
They can give you a break.
They can be cool.
They can be dicks.



Just like everyjob, your going to find unethical people. People that take advantage of whatever resources available to them.

However, with all that said, I have been witness to alot of shit, that is just way over the line. I could write a book. Literally.

Heres a little tidbit out of that book.....


Coming back from Key West one time, we were driving through Miami on the FL turnpike. Im the right lane of a double lane expressway. Trooper passes me, and beyond me, in his lane, is a metro transport bus with people in it.

Trooper pulls behind bus, and Bus does not want to get over, to let the trooper pass. There is PLENTY of room to go around the bus, if the trooper wants to switch to the right lane and overtake, but instead....

The trooper turns on his lights.....Bus starts to slow down a little bit in the left lane. This just pisses the trooper off, so heres where the action comes in...

The trooper finally whips his cruiser around the right side of the bus, then pulls directly in front of the bus..... and slams on his brakes...making the passenger bus swerve and run off into the median...kicking up dirt and spitting it back at us. The speed limit was 65 I beleive, so we were all going pretty fast.

The bus should have gotten over, but there was not a need for what happened after that. It was kind of surreal.
