How profitable are adult sites really?

Since I am rather isolated down here in South africa with my little site. I dont get to compare notes with many people. So I am wondering what would you all consider to be a good profit from your sights promoting adult sponsors and what do you spend to get that kind of turnover.
Also since the 2257 has been around have you noticed a pickup in your sales at all? One would think that it would inhibit free porn in a way and hence mean people would have to pay. Well I guess it doesnt stop the groups from publishing free porn they nabbed off paysites

2257 haven't changed anything for the surfer really... the webmasters just have more paperwork to fill that's it.

Done right it can be very profitable, done wrong it's a waste of time and money.

If surfers would rather go to TGPs for porn than your site, you're doing something VERY wrong. This is not a multi billion dollar industry because of free porn. In fact the opposite, free porn would largely cease to exist if it was not for paid porn.

Actually I was looking to hear from people who operate successfull sites.
I would like to find out if I am making what I could be with my site. Like I said I have no-one to compare notes with. My site is already making a profit and whilst I wont get rich from it, its worth it to be at this time

Profitability is relative.

The contents can make or break it.

Good thinking Paul. I think porn need to go towards art and science really. make a site like that and you be fine. but need $$ to start up. That is the catch. Now hard to enter business even with large investment or great idea.

Mangemant is all what does metter as main addition to all other components involved in such a comlicated Web Industry
