Women Get Infections After Tattoo From Door-To-Door Salesman

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Some Missouri women may be wishing they had passed on a visit from a door-to-door tattoo salesman.
On Friday night, a man went around knocking on doors in Springfield, holding a tattoo gun and offering his services.
One woman describes the gun as homemade, but still agreed to pay for a tattoo.
And she wasn't alone. Two other women in her apartment complex also agreed.
Tamra Eason got the tattoo and said, "It was wrapped with black tape, had a pin underneath it, had fishing wire going through it, you could tell it was a homemade gun." But she also said, "We just wanted tattoos and now we're paying for it."
All of the women have developed infections where they received the tattoos, one of them even had to be hospitalized.
The Health Department said it is always worth the extra money to get a tattoo from a licensed professional with the right equipment and sterilization procedures.
It is illegal in Missouri to give a tattoo without a license.
