What's considered too small for a room for a pool table? (Either 7' or 8' tables)

Depends on what else is going to be in there and what it is used for besides pool. I'd make sure you have at least 3 feet clearance minimum on all sides of the table. That's just me. So just a pool table only room would be at the smallest 14 ft X 10 1/2 ft

From what I know the only tables you should buy are 7 and 8 feet. You also need 4 feet more on each side of the table to shoot. Ask the local billards retailer. They can help you out.

A room w/ just the table; nothing else.

Well I would go any samller than what I posted. You want the players to be able to shoot and also to be able to get around. Like I said 3 feet minimum all around, but as the other guy said 4 is better if you have the room. If it's a smallish room better go with the 7 footer.

Standard size cues are 5 feet but you can usually ask for 4 foot or 3 foot cues. If you go with the 5 foot cues, you'll need 5 feet on each side of the table. So for a table that is 4 x 8 you'll need a least 14 x 18 feet of space.

Even if it's not completely ideal (you may have a couple of tight spots), pool table is always fun to have. Most of the time you'll be hitting the balls on an angle anyway.

I'm looking to put one in a room that's about 13' wide and 15' long but I can probably get away w/ more because it's actually open to another room except for a short 3' high "wall/barrier" inbetween.

About 4 1/2 feet. This is the whole table not just the playing area.

Another thing to consider... Make sure your floor can withstand the weight over the long term... Some floors with joists have been known to sag a bit over time...
