Don't they make small size plasma TV?

At the stores I've been to only sell plasma TV of 40" and more while I'm more interested in 17" or so...!

Uhhh... yeah... those are called LCD's. Plasma's don't come in small sizes.

Why does it HAVE to specifically be a small plasma?

If it's because you want the better contrast ratio with plasma, you can find some really high contrast LCD's that look nearly as good.

Yup it's for the contrast. The small LCD TVs I was looking didn't look to good viewing from angles...

Not sure if they have Costco's in Montreal, but I saw a 17" Proview unit that I was tempted to buy. It was $299 and had an 800:1 contrast ratio that looked incredible. Better than any screen I had seen of that size. And it did 1080i.

I'm holding out for 1080p.
