50 designers losing their clients to me. :)
|
All I know in all these years we have been designing at webinc.com we only have less then 6 customers who have ever screwed us over re: payment, etc. The were small little jobs - so not a huge deal.
But I am a collection master :) I will track a person down for $20.00 or 2000.00.. 99.9% of the time we never have an issue, and never ask for payment upfront. |

DamageX is right on target.
P.S. This thread idea is a terrible one. Take responsibility for your own endeavors. A designer that puts blames onto the client is just showing bad business practice. |

yup this is right. how aout small companies/outsourced designers and the likes? only 5 lucky design studios would be able to know who's who, who's what? :Oh crap |

everyone fucks up once in awhile - its how the fuck up is handled is what matters most.
all this talk of blacklists on either side is a fucking joke because everyone would/could be on it in one way, shape or form. do your homework before entering into a contract. |

non payment for services redered no matter the amount is enough to be on any blacklist. |

I think that you're going to have big problems with determining whom to list, how to "investigate", how to do follow-ups on the case, etc.
If you make such a list "public", how are you going to determine the credibility of the dozens of designers who'd like to badmouth a customer? I'd never turn down a customer based on some "blacklist" run by people I don't know. The same goes for a "designer blacklist" run by John Doe, btw. There are many, many ways you can protect yourself from clients who you call "pain in the ass" - here's a small hint: get it all covered EXTENSIVELY prior to taking the job. I've always done that and I always got paid and I got into a "pain in the ass" client only once and even then, we managed to fix it all without going to GFY or adding one another to some "blacklist". |

Ok, so will you publishing a list of all desigers participating because I for one will not be using any of them :) Do I bitch, yep, sometimes I do. Most of the time it is for things like missed deadlines. People are hiring a designer for a service, a designer is paid to produce. Now obviously there are going to be disagreements, misunderstanding and sometimes things just do not go right....but if I am going to hire someone, I'll be damned if I feel I have to pussy foot around them and accept whatever shit they throw at me because I'm afraid I might show up on some damn list. So whatever list YOU have of designers participating, I will get ahold of it and use it as a guide of who NOT to hire...and trust me...I get a TON of design work done. |

Dam! at least someone sensible that pointed this to the reality. Not sure in the US, but lots of countries have really strict laws about privacy. |

A lot of clients bitch. It's not about just bitching. If you read the whole thread you'll know what I mean. If you don't want to use the designers that participate on this project just because they publish scammers and deadbeat clients (that's really not just bitching, but clients that waste designers time constantly). I do understand if some clients might not understand what I'm talking about. You have to be a designer yourself to experience this problem. |

I wrote a serious response to your post and all you could do was post a pic? Weak. |
