help !!! half the Internet is down

ok, long story short, I had to get a new account form my ISP

and now when I connect to the Internet half the sites are down, the sites that I can NOT access I can access when I load a proxy in my browser

I phoned my ISP technical support 4 times alredy they say everything's ok on their site (surprise surprise), and even one of the guys there took my username and password, used them with his router and he was able to access all the websites that I couldn't

I tried another program (no name) that connects to another server, that worked for the past one million years with no problem, and now it gives me 'server can not be found, DNS record does not exists' or something similar

bottom line, it is not my browser (I have k-meleon, firefox, and IE and tried all of them), there's something DNS records related (whatever the hell that might be)

any ideas, suggestions, etc will be highly appreciated

thanks

Sorry, I tripped over the power cord for the other half of the internet. One sec and I'll have that all fixed up!

Whenever somebody brings up: "I can't access certain sites...", the first thing that pops into my head is: switch DNS servers.

what have you tried so far?

have you tried simple things like release/renew and flushing your DNS?

I tried that already, but they're both DNS servers provided by my former and present ISP

Are there any 'public' DNS servers? Something that I can use for now, untill this gets resolved?

yes I tried ipconfig/flushdns

sorry, these are the things I have done so far:

ipconfig/flushdns

tried three different browsers (tried clearing cache, cookies, files etc)

rebooted the router - twice

I have NO firewalls or antivirus running at the monent

I tried and experienced the same problems on my other PCs that are connected to the same router
