This is a very good post actually. Now let me ask you a couple questions:

1) Would Jordan have played nice with Shaq? Please consider Shaq's history with talented guards and Jordan's ego.

2) The Bulls were a great team, dynasty. Could they have beaten the '01 Laker playoff teamt that went 15-1?

I agree with Lebron, people do not realize what killer instict is. Just because he is a great athlete, he isn't even on the other guy's planet. But I DO like him. He even said in an interview that Kobe is the best and that until he makes clutch shots, he is not that type of player. I think he will be more like Magic, but it is so tough to say...

He may be a ball hog...but if you lose when you give it up, wouldn't you be, too? Let's hope he gets some players around him again.

I don't think you're getting how humble MJ is if he even compares Kobe to himself.

MJ was what made the NBA, before him it wasn't as large and after him it isn't as large as it was.

Basketball owes MJ a big Thank you. I don't think Kobe is as great a player as MJ, but most importantly I don't think Kobe is as good a role model or a spokesperson. MJ quieted rooms when he entered, Kobe makes them loud from people talking about his mistakes. I'm not hating on Kobe, but he's one arrogant shit.

Jordan's team is the greatest team, it's like saying the Dolphins 72 team is teh greatest, they both hold the unique distinction of having the most wins in a season.

These are great questions but Rinaldo hit it on the spot. Would Jordan have played nice with shaq? I think so. Jordan played nice with pippen, Jordan played nice with Rodman, Grant, etc. Jordan did what it took to win and that meant taking a lesser yet still commanding role on the team, but making everyone better, and towards the end of the bulls dynasty, they got better every year to the point where I don't think there was one team that could stop them.. Second question, could they take the Lakers that went 15-1? Absolutely. If you are talking about Jordan and Pippen in their prime, and Kobe that season, you'd have Pippen play Kobe perfectly, while there would be no answer for MJ. The Shaq situation is a tough call because he might get kicked out of the game after tangling up with Rodman. Also you have to understand there was a LOT more competition during the Bulls' dynasty, while there was absolutely no East during the Lakers dynasty, until Detroit handed their asses to them. The MAIN difference between Kobe and MJ is that MJ set his ego aside for the greater good of the team, and as a result he always came out on top. Kobe, on the other hand, set the team aside for his ego and he went from leading a could be dynasty to a lottery team. It's all about maturity and although Kobe has shown it this year, still has a LONG way to go before he gets on MJ's level..

Totally different situations, Jordan was always the leader of the Bulls. What if Jordan joined a team with a Shaq that's 7 years older than him and have already been an established superstar in the league for 4 years and Jordan has to start by coming off the bench?

My guess is Jordan would have the same problems Kobe had with Shaq.

When Pippen and Grant joined the Bulls, Jordan was already the leader of the Bulls for 3 years. When Rodman joined, Jordan was already a Bull for more than 10 years.

If you want to compare how they do with crappy teammates, look at what Jordan did with the Washington Wizards.

im sure glad the lakers kept kobe instead of shaq. shaq's numbers are horrible and he's overweight yet again, only has another few years left in him.

If I was to compare how Jordan did with a crappy team, I would use the pre-Pippen/Jackson era, because he was what 41 on the Wizards? Not to mention he still owned at that age while Kobe won't make it to 40. Jordan had a crappy team before Pippen, yet they managed to make the playoffs 3 or 4 years? I've yet to see Kobe make the playoffs without Shaq..

Not saying Kobe's 81-point game is better than Wilt's 100-point game, but these stats make you think.

Wilt scored 100 of his team's 169 points, 59.2% of his team's points.
Kobe scored 81 of his team's 122 points, 66.4% of his team's points.

Wilt took 63 shots, making 36, 57.1%.
Kobe took 46 shots, making 28, 60.9%.

Wilt was 28 fro 32 from the foul line, 87.5%.
Kobe was 18 for 20 from the foul line, 90.0%.


1. They have slightly higher averages.
2. Kobe is a guard, guards tend to have lower shooting percentages because they shoot from further out. Bill Cartwright has a higher career shooting percentage than Jordan, doesn't mean anything. They take different kinds of shots.
3. Kobe gets double and triple teamed all the time. His current teammates very rarely get double-teamed.

Good point, but Kobe has only failed to take his team to the playoffs in one season, a season in which the team was completely striped and Kobe missed 16 games with injury. Unless Kobe goes down, they'll be back in the playoffs this years.

Also, it was a weak Eastern conference in Jordan's first 3 years. The Bulls made the playoffs with records of 38-44, 30-52 (!), and 40-42. Fewer teams back then, almost everyone made the playoffs. The Bulls were bounced in the first round all 3 years with a record of 1-9.

2 of those 3 years before Scottie they were swept by the Boston Celtics, which were the team of the 80's, and one of the best teams ever. You have to take that into consideration when you say Jordan's team was out in the first round. Kobe's team won't make it past the first round either, but they won't be playing a team of the magnitude of the 80's Celtics, or even close them. Also consider the fact that Jordan put in career playoff highs against the best teams ever. I have yet to see Kobe take down a team like Detroit or San Antonio. In fact, we saw him getting shut down 2 seasons ago, just like Jordan was against the Bad Boys. We'll see if Kobe ever overcomes an obstacle like that, as Jordan did..

Kobe deserves the MVP with this game alone. :thumbsup

An MVP is someone that carries his team as far as possible while making his players better. Kobe is not an MVP..

Good points again, one correction though. The Lakers were the team of the 80's. 5 Championships for the Lakers versus 3 for the Celtics in the 80's.

Yea my bad I'm a basketball buff and I forgot all about the lakers celtics rivalry in which the Lakers prevailed. But I believe I am correct about the 80's celtics being one of the greatest teams ever...
