A lot of them are free but a few you have to pay for. If there was a good plugin available would you pay for it. Nothing expensive of course but say $9.95?
Bloggers - what are your thoughts on selling WP plugins?

I had a plugin made for me because there was not one available. I just got the first release of it and it works like a charm. As soon as I get the finished plugin and test it out I was thinking of offering it for sale. Sorry for the vagueness but if I do decide to sell it I am sure there are a lot of ppl that would want it and no sense creating competition before it is available.Originally posted by FranckWell, offer something nice they cant find anywhere else and some people will buy it...just like any other product i guess.

That was my thought but since there is nothing like it out there I went ahead and paid for it because it will help me. If no one buys it is no big deal but it will help me and save my time. So for me it is a win win situation. Sure you could pay $50-$100 and get your own coded but why would you if I will sell it to you for $9.95?Originally posted by frischeap bloggers dont pay for stuff, if you're willing to invest to make a profit you will.

like you say you have nothing to lose.
but you know what will probably happen. Some WP smartass coder will make a post saying "I can't believe someone is actually selling a plugin when all it does is bla bla. I whipped up one ten times better in 3 minutes (when it actually took him a week) and you can download it for free here"

I didn't see your post lol we had a moment of synchronicity thereOriginally posted by vikiI don't think it could ever be that profitable for you. Once you sell it to a couple people, it'll get out there for free. Besides, a lot of people will just see that you're selling it and make a free version just for fun.

Yes, you are absolutely correct because of the WP license. However, it does not call any of the WP code to operate. When it was written this was a specific consideration.Originally posted by SPeRMiNaToRjust ignore the fact that wordpress is opensource.......
If it uses ANY wp functions then you have to give out the source...free

if the tool was an addon and did many things custom that i would like and had the programmer do them for me, sure i would pay the programmer myself, but i dont know if i coded my own and sell it. i would just like to get my name out there if i coded it.Originally posted by BusterPornThat was my thought but since there is nothing like it out there I went ahead and paid for it because it will help me. usally if i need something coded i just goto scriptlance they will do pretty much anything, and if you want it custom to your site and yours only its better. why let everyone have the same features as yours?Comment

English its not my native language but I still make the difference between
opensource and free.
I've said it once and I'll say it again, I can even take WP and sell it to you
with no modifications and I'm not breaking gpl.Comment
