Back story:

Last week I reg'd a domain for a project I'm working on.

On a lark, I checked with IPAlert to see if anyother domains were going to be available in this category that might possibly be better.

Coincidently - it turns out that the singular of the exact domain I'd just reg'd was set to expire on the 21st. (I reg'd the plural obviously :winkwink:)

Long story short:

I called Evan and asked him to personally back order the domain for me since I didnt have any accounts set up to do so myself.

We set the max bid at $350 on the 21st as the auction process began and at 12:10 pm today I get a call from Evan telling me I'd been out bid and there were 5 minutes left in the auction. I said raise the max bid to $500. A minute later Evan informs me that I'd been out bid again!

DAMN IT!

I said set the max bid to $750 ... 5 minutes later the domain was mine!!!

THANKS EVAN AND IPALERT!

I just protected the future of my brand and I think your service ROCKS!

Now I need to set up my own back order accounts and will continue to monitor drop off domains with IPalert very happily!

especially for the $18 backorder :winkwink: seriously though, wine and medical domains are fetching top dollar so we are accumulating. psychoanalysis.com snap auction ends in a couple days- that should be interesting. heelspur.com went for several grand today at snap- which was surprisingly high-- other doozies today that went at snap are winetastings.com and overdraft.com.

it will update in the next few-- we only captured it 20 minutes ago.

overdraft.com is not over yet actually has 5 min's left and is at $16,250 right now and rising.

thanks- seriously - the clock is ticking on the current backorder format todd and you should jump on the bandwagon again and start grabbing domains as fast as you can. a central listing service could happen at anytime and pool.com has an injunction hearing in weeks that will have an impact on the current format of backorders. once the cls is live- all backorders will be like snap-style and all buyers will have a crack at bids. straight-up captures will be rare... having one's own registrar will be the key.

it's at $16,850 right now and rising. everytime you get outbid at snapnames they add 5 minutes or so to the auction so that is why it keeps going and going and going.... will advise at close.

overdraft.com closed at $16,850 to the same fucker who buys most of the great domains at snap :upsidedow i am jealous. that is a fucking steal.
