Then someone needs to talk to my optometrist. the guy told me to be I had to multiply by two the size of my monitor to calculte the distance I should be away from it; and for a TV, i had to multiply by 3! :winkwink:

Maybe I just suck at looking.... But I think you mean they use samsung technologies?

Probably. Neither Dell nor Apple manufacture their own LCD panels, and Samsung does make 30" panels with similar sounding specs (google LTM300M1 for Samsung's specs). Companies like Samsung, Fujitsu, and Matsushita produce OEM components which they may or may not use in their own consumer products. Apple has had their 30" screen out for a couple years, and could probably market it more effectively, and pay Samsung more than Samsung could generate producing their own 30" monitors.

damn, that thing is huge...

I'm not making it up. It's just one of these things. Numerous articles on it, hit up google.

I have the 20" dell widescreen and I love it. But a part of me longs for bigger and better things, especially when watching movies.

Brad Gosse 01-19-2006 10:18 PM

I have a 30" Apple screen and I LOVE it. It did take some getting used to tho.

Vitasoy 01-20-2006 12:51 AM

Looks good to me - I have a 32 in for a couple of years. Adding a second as soon as I move our office - very soon.

I think that's an LCD panel *for* a monitor, not a monitor itself. Meaning it has no case, lighting, power supply, PC interface, etc.

john77 01-20-2006 01:52 AM

huh, you must swing your head a lot !

Fuck Kevin, I'm sitting here trying to determine if a 30" monitor is too big. What are you doing with a 32"?

Rebel D 01-20-2006 09:49 AM

i would buy a 30 in a second

Pervert! :winkwink:

SCtyger 01-20-2006 04:29 PM

i got the 24" next to the 20" widescreen dell myself... the 24" is A LOT of desktop already.

personally i think the 30" is too big for a PC screen. now if that was a 30" LCD TV... it could be used for other things.

but as it is, these are just PC LCDs.. the best quality input on these is the DVI port, but it is content protected (HDCP)... you wont be able to input via DVI-out DVD player or something. I only know of the samsung firmware hack that will allow a few samsung DVD players to do so.

Huggles 01-20-2006 04:35 PM

37" better
