My speaker system got JACKED(pics)

So I went home last night to pick up the Lincoln so that I can return it today (lease ended) and notice that the back hatch wasnt completly closed. As I went back there I notice that my system is missing. What pisses me off is that this was a custom built speaker box and I had a guy that was gonna buy it for his Aviator. One window broken and the system stolen, they didn't even try to steal the radio which seemed odd. except my school books they left me those.

Here are the pics of what it looked like and what I found yesterday

Before

After

OUCH.. that sucks ass... They prob did not take the stereo since that would have taken alot more time to rip from the dash.. (had it happen) The speaker box it looks like they knew they could just unplug and carry away...

Thieves suck. Napolean had his Mazda RX-7 broken into last summer. They stole the radio/CD player, middle bezel (console), and cigarette lighter but not even the money in the car. We think someone followed him and targetted his car specifically for those items. That could have happened to you too... people looking for specific vehicle add ons/parts etc. Ugh, nothing worse than feeling violated.

Sucks. When I put my system in we bolted it down so well that unless you know exactly the order to take things out, or you intend to break the system pulling it out you don't have a hope in hell. It has already saved me once, they kicked one of my subs in cause they couldn't pull them out, but I'd prefer that than letting the pricks take my stuff.

Welcome to the world of car theft, if you haven't experienced this already consider yourself lucky. I've probably had a breakin every 6 months since I've gotten my drivers license, despite always investing in the bets car security equipment.

Pete, that sucks man. But I'm not telling you anything you don't already know.

Sorry to see that happen.

I have a buddy who had the worst streak of luck with cars, Hondas namely.

It started when he got his first Honda, a run of the mill 4 door Civic. He woke up a few times to have his stereo and or amp/subs stolen.

However, the kicker was one morning he was in his car about to start it on the way to work and it wouldn't start. Trying and trying, it wouldn't start. it sounded funny.

He lifted the hood and they'd stolen his entire intake manifold. Yes. INTAKE MANIFOLD from a 100% stock beater Civic.

He then upgraded to a 2000 Civic Si, cool car.

I think that the theft of it was attempted 3 or 4 times and it has just as many break ins for stereo equipment.

That guy has more comprehensive claims than anyone I know.

He recently bought a Mazda and he's got his fingers crossed that he'll be okay.

If I had to guess - that's an inside job.

No thief is going to give a rats ass about damaging your vehicle or the wires connecting things. Like they'd have taken the time to unscrew the connecting cables - they would have just cut them.

Also, your lease ends and you have to turn in the vehicle today and anything you add to the car becomes part of the car and has to go back with the vehicle - aren't you the lucky one who has such cosiderate theives who didn't do any excessive damage to the truck and only took the 1 thing you paid for after leasing the truck!

Yeeep! Nothing about this smells legit!

Also did you have insurance to cover your system? I know most insurance companies require you to have a seperate policy.

I went to pickup the truck so I can pull everything out of it, and if it was an inside job then I would of made a police report and cliamed it with my insurance, but i didnt because its not insured.

This is very true to look on Ebay.
Thieves stole the seats and rims from my Honda S2000. I guess they are popular bolt on items for Modded Civics or something.

I called the police and got the standard answer "we will do what we can" Then a buddy suggested eBay. Sure enough some idiot who lived not far from where my car was stored had the same items listed on eBay. The Police where suddenly of great help after we did all their work for them. Problem was they could not prove they were the items from my car. However the police scared him enough that he "donated" the items to me, because he felt sorry for my loss. The idiot did it I think to make the cops go away, becasue i am sure he had other stolen stuff as well. But i got my stuff back.

I have to say thats the first time i've seen someone clear out a system without cutting wires.

I used to work in the auto industry and I have never seen someone who has popped a window to get in take the time to remove things properly. They go with wire and bolt cutters through everything and pull it out quick because the popped window is a dead giveaway for a break in.

It really sounds like someone was aware you were returning the vehicle, or was aware you'd be gone all day. Like someone with an Aviator maybe?

Lots of people knew about the system ive had it for close to 3 years, just seems odd that it happened as I was gettin ready to sell it. Karma is a bitch and they will get whats coming to them.
