    GFY oldies gone missing?

    I was cleaning my ICQ list and a few familiar names popped to my face and I started wondering what happened to:

    Grim shawn (other than screw wiredguy)
    dawgy
    TheFly
    =^..^= (or something along those lines, kitty I think)

    others I'm sure.
    Funny how a few sort of people fade away and few just vanish instantly.
    ..and I'm off.

              TheFly got banned

              A lot of people disappeared. Today is a complete new generation of GFYers. Thousands of useless sig-dropping leeches.

              I miss all the intelligent conversations and old school fun. GFY is not a webmaster board anymore. It's more like a banner machine for generating revenue.

                                                  Yeah, 95% of GFY threads look like this:

                                                  Someone spams their stuff - new program, new hosted galleries, contests - and hundreds of sigwhores drop in posting 2-word replies: Stand up!!!/Top Notch!!!. They don't even have the slightest idea about the program or nature of the spam, but they leave their 2 cents anyway, cause it's a free +1 to their postcount.

                                                  Someone said that GFY peaked when Labret was banned and sig posting was introduced. I agree with it.

                                                              It peaked as a interesting place to be at that time I agree. Actually I miss seeing those guys around. I would enjoy seeing Labret take aim at most of these folks. He has to be around somewhere. He pops up every now and again at JBM.

Hell no! I don't know about you, but wading through 36 posts of "see sig", "sig spot", "o'rly" and other shit, just to read one good reply in a thread is definitely not my idea of useful.

                                                                                                                          So true, I remember when I started reading GFY in 2001 - any info I needed, all I had to do was a search and the answer was there. If I had a question, one thread or post in another thread and instantaneously, the answer was there. Made things much easier. Nowadays, you have to sift through alot of irrelevant threads and posts to get an answer. Even searches don't yield the answer fast enough with so many posts/threads that may have the keyword but be totally irrelevant. There's still alot of info, it's just not as easy to get the correct answer.

                                                                                                                              3) Last thread/post I saw from him, he was leaving the business if I'm not mistaken - retiring
                                                                                                                              4) She had moved back to Toronto last year if I remember correctly - and I believe baddog would know better since I think she visited him prior to coming to Canada.
