Fucking Norton Antivirus... Worse than a virus

I installed the trial the other day and it fucked up my windows. Now when I run chameleon only 1 submit window will stay useable (until the very end, then i can click the check on the other 3).

Also when rendering videos I can't multitask at all, it wont even let me click the start button or other items on the start bar.

All of this happened the momment I rebooted after installing norton antivirus 2006, and continues even after i've removed it.

Anyone have any ideas how to reverse this effect? Unfortunately I had system restore disabled, I think norton may have done that as well.

Norton is a piece of crap. I recently fixed someones computer. I thought it was full of viruses....no...it was full of Norton. After deleting it, it worked flawlessly again.

Norton sucks. I use Avast at home. It's FREE and it's really good too!

Hands down the best antivirus software I've found is Eset NOD32
http://www.eset.com/home/home.htm

Give the trial a try. AVG is very good but I like NOD32 just enough more to make me buy it and use it over AVG.

my 2 cents

I hate Norton. It should be outlawed.

For the past few years I have been using Trend Micro and Panda's online remotely hosted virus scan. You have to download Panda now to use it though. So, I stopped. Thanks to Norton I'm not sure I ever want to download virus protection software.

I did, and it definately helped... but there's some modifications it makes to the OS that don't seem to be reversed when you remove it. I'm running a scan with AVG now, running great in the background and everything else is fast.

With norton it slowed the PC to a crawl while scanning, rendering videos, even using dreamweaver was a pain.

HAHAAHAHAHA Norton Sucks balls, you didn't know this?

i would recomend investing in kaspersky or something.. stay away from mcafee and norton all together, unless you want your peice of shit computer to become a paperweight or stress companion.

Norton completely disabled my ability to send emails from Outlook. I thought it was SBC/Yahoo and their gay 'disable port 25' thing, so i was on support with them forever. i disabled all of Norton's functionality and still wouldn't send. finally uninstalled Norton, Outlook sends like a champ now. Forget that lousy POS.

So true... With norton antivirus 2006 installed on my 3000mhz PC with 1 gig of ram, it ran slower than my 1800mhz laptop with 512 ram. Dreamweaver crashed 3 times in a row too, I dont know if that's nortons fault or not, but it never happened before.

Norton is the worst anti-virus around, tried it for several
years and after trying AVG, there is no turning back

Norton's shit.

Get Nod32. Very nice program. You can demo before buying. But it's worth it.

I agree. I used Norton Internet Security for 3 years and in the last couple of months before getting fed up with it, it let 3 start page trojans get through. After switching to McAfee, I haven't had a single problem since (knock on wood).

In Norton's defense, back when Peter Norton hand coded everything in assembler, their software was awesome. It's only sucked hairy balls since Symantec acquired the company, in 1990.
